The Legal Officer oversees all legal affairs of the organization, both internal and external legal concerns.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Draft Contract, Correspondence, and other Legal Documents
- Prepare and review legal documents including but not limited to Deed of Sale, Quitclaims, Contact to Sell, Memorandum of Agreement, and other contracts;
- Draft letters to various government offices in relation to the business or legal concern of the company;
- Ensure that the key issues and needs of the company are addressed;
- Review proposed contract to ensure that the interests of the company is well-protected and sufficiently covered;
Represent the Company
- Attend meetings with various government offices and to advocate on behalf of the company to said government agencies and other organizations;
- Work collaboratively with other organizations and networks where appropriate;
- Liaise with other legal services;
Legal Research
- Conduct legal research and applicable laws and jurisprudence on various issues;
- Prepare legal opinion and/or memorandum on matters that need to be addressed by the company;
- Provide legal advice and brief team on legal issues, potential liabilities and possible courses of actions;
Property Management
- Perform and monitor compliance and timely submission of legal documents;
- Review progress of litigation and liaise with and manage external lawyers;
- Guide management through litigation processes;
- Perform negotiation and dispute settlement;
- Appear before the courts and other quasi-judicial bodies to represent the company;
- Provide administrative and project support involving legal matters;
- Perform other related functions as may be deemed necessary;
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Law Degree or with at least 2-3rd year law student
- Preferably with at least 1-year paralegal working experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of all applicable laws, rules and regulations
- High attention to detail
