Japanese Translator 

The Japanese translator will be working in the SAP AMS team in the Philippines under the supervision of the SAP AMS Team Manager and the Digital Solutions ERP Translator in Japan. He/she will work closely together with the SAP Application Management Support team in the Philippines, the Dataland SAP ERP team, SAP & PMO team, Digital Solutions team in the headquarters and in each region, Business Process Experts (BPEs) & end users in Japan but also from other regions, externally hired contractors, the SAP partner and SAP.

The main responsibilities of a JAPANESE TRANSLATOR include:

• Translate SAP incidents or Change Requests from Japanese to English send by the users of SAP S4Hana system for the SAP AMS team in the Philippines.
• Verbally explain the translation to the SAP AMS team members in the Philippines.
• Translate the English response to Japanese of the SAP AMS team members in the Philippines to the users in Japan.
• Support Japanese to English and English to Japanese translations in remote meetings via teams or when needed face to face meetings.
• Convert PowerPoint, Excel, Word or documents in any other format from Japanese to English or English to Japanese
• Convert text and audio recordings from Japanese to English or English to Japanese.
• Make meeting minutes in English and Japanese.
• Ensure translated content conveys original meaning and tone.
• Cross-reference specialized dictionaries and translation tools to check quality of the translation.
• Proofread translated documents, texts for grammar, spelling and punctuation accuracy.
• Follow up with internal team members and Dataland to ensure translation meets their needs.
• Edit content with an eye toward maintaining its original format (e.g. font and structure)

To apply, you must be an expert on the following requirements:  

• Obtained N1 in Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) and/or, J1 or higher in Business Japanese Proficiency Test (BJT)
• Proven work experience as a Japanese Translator, Interpreter or similar role.
• Profound knowledge of and able to (business) communicate in the Japanese and English language fluently.
• Excellent proofreading skills with the ability to identify grammar, spelling and punctuation errors.
• Good knowledge of content editing tools.
• Familiarity with translation software.
• Experience of working with Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
• Time-management skills.
• Additional certification in Linguistics is a plus.
• Experience with international organizations is a plus.
• Experience with translations of IT documents and especially the ERP software SAP is a plus.
• Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Service oriented, project-oriented, result-oriented and flexible.
• International work experience in a continues changing environment is an advantage.
• Experience working in a multicultural cross functional environment.
• Mainly working onsite in BGC (Taguig) Philippines
• Able to work independently.
