Director of Estimating and Purchasing

A distinguished high-end finishing and trim company based in New York, is seeking a skilled Director of Estimating and Purchasing to help streamline our processes and enhance our service offerings. You will have the opportunity to oversee the complete estimation and purchasing process from project inception to completion.

The Role

Role Description:  

• Ability to manage projects from start to finish. Ensure all necessary details are clearly communicated and understood.
• Do a complete take off the job based off the plans provided 
• Conduct comprehensive takeoffs from architectural plans and create preliminary and final estimates including Scope of Work (SOW) documents.
• Compile detailed material lists, source from multiple vendors to ensure competitive pricing and timely delivery, and manage all purchase orders.
• Select vendors and manage ongoing relationships. Ensure all materials meet specified codes and quality standards.
• Schedule and track deliveries, maintaining communication with site managers to ensure alignment with project timelines.
• Maintain job status updates through weekly calls, coordinate with internal teams, and manage necessary documentation using Microsoft Office tools.

Ideal Profile

Requirements:

• Experience with ConX or similar takeoff software. Familiarity with QuickBooks, CAD software, and Microsoft Office (specifically excel).
• Strong understanding of construction documents and ability to interpret architectural plans.
• High level of analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills are essential. The ability to manage internal communications effectively is crucial; a clear and articulate speaking manner is preferred.
• Must be capable of working independently and taking projects from conception to completion.
• Detail-oriented and thrive in a dynamic environment.
