Job Description - MYP Music Teacher (Lower MYP and Instrument Experience)

Overview Position MYP Music Teacher Job Code N/A Reports to Divisional Head/Assistant Head of School Direct Reports N/A Division ERI Department EC12 Role Purpose The Music Teacher will develop a curriculum consistent with the MYP framework and the MYP Arts Subject Guide and will create units of inquiry relating to the various Music subjects. This position supports and implements the learning program in accordance with the policies and philosophy of NEOM EC-12 under the supervision and direction of the Divisional Head/Assistant Head of School and the Head of School. Key Accountabilities & Activities Key Responsibilities Curriculum Delivery:
  • Develop and implement engaging lessons aligned with the MYP Music framework.
  • Foster musical creativity, appreciation, and cultural understanding.
Differentiated Instruction:
  • Tailor teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning needs, ensuring an inclusive music classroom environment.
  • Encourage experimentation and individual musical expression.
Musical Exploration:
  • Facilitate diverse musical exploration, including playing instruments, vocal training, music theory, and exploring various genres.
  • Guide students in understanding and appreciating the cultural and historical aspects of music.
Assessment and Feedback:
  • Develop and administer assessments to gauge student understanding and progress in music.
  • Provide constructive feedback to support students in enhancing their musical skills.
Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with colleagues to integrate interdisciplinary approaches and create a cohesive learning experience.
  • Foster positive relationships with other MYP teachers and contribute to cross-subject connections, particularly with subjects that complement music.
Professional Development:
  • Stay updated on musical trends, techniques, and advancements in Music Education.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills.
Parent and Community Engagement:
  • Communicate with parents regarding student progress and involvement in music-related activities.
  • Collaborate with the community to enhance the music learning experience.
Other Duties:
  • Other duties as assigned.
Background, Skills & Qualifications Knowledge, Skills and Experience Educational Background:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Music Education, or a related field.
Teaching Experience:
  • Proven experience as a Music teacher, preferably within an IB MYP framework.
Musical Knowledge:
  • In-depth understanding of various musical genres, instruments, music theory, and history.
  • Ability to inspire a love for music and musical creativity.
Collaboration and Communication:
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills for effective teamwork.
  • Experience working with diverse learning needs and creating an inclusive music classroom environment.
Curriculum Development:
  • Expertise in curriculum development based on the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) framework.
Assessment and Reporting:
  • Proficient in developing and administering assessments; ability to report on student progress in music.
Professional Development and Adaptability:
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and staying updated on musical trends.
  • Adaptability to integrate new teaching methodologies and approaches.
Qualifications Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Music Education, or a related field.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Specialization or additional certification in Music Education.
  • Previous experience teaching within an IB MYP framework.
