About the Role:

The CAD Technician plays a crucial role in the field of construction and engineering by providing precise technical support through their expertise in AutoCAD. This position demands meticulous attention to detail and proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software to facilitate the creation and modification of engineering drawings, blueprints, and various design documents. CAD Technicians are responsible for a wide range of tasks, including plan set updates, engineering detail revisions, material takeoffs, construction details, and permit corrections to ensure the seamless progression of construction projects.

Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate expertise in the utilization of AutoCAD 2021, ensuring that this essential software is leveraged effectively to create, edit, and manage technical drawings.
  

• Collaborate closely with the CAD Manager, Permit Manager, and Production Manager to ensure that templates and plan sets are consistently maintained in accordance with city standards and contemporary construction methodologies.
  

• Skillfully oversee tasks and schedules within CoConstruct/BuilderTrend, meticulously ensuring that project tasks progress in a timely and organized manner, with particular attention to preventing task delays.
  

• Conscientiously read, interpret, and comprehend the intricacies of design details and plan sets, ensuring that all technical documentation is thoroughly understood.
  

• Skillfully draft preliminary surveys, collaborating with Survey Technicians to establish a foundation for project design and development.
  

• Engage in productive collaboration with the Sales team to generate production drawings that align with project requirements and client expectations, thereby contributing to effective project execution.
  

• Stay informed and updated with the latest developments in AutoCAD software and drafting techniques, continuously expanding your knowledge and skill set to remain at the forefront of industry best practices.
  

Qualifications:

• Possession of a CAD certificate or a degree with a background relevant to the role is preferred. Academic qualifications in these areas demonstrate commitment to the field.
  

• Demonstrated competence in the utilization of AutoCAD, a fundamental requirement for this position.
  

• A minimum of three years of prior experience in CAD-related roles is expected, reflecting a solid foundation in the field.
  

• While not mandatory, a background in the construction industry is considered 
  

• advantageous and may enhance the candidate's understanding of project requirements.
  

• Strong analytical abilities and an unwavering attention to detail are essential qualities for this role, as they are critical in ensuring the precision and accuracy of technical drawings and documentation.
  

• Demonstrated proficiency in written and verbal communication is necessary to facilitate collaboration with team members and external stakeholders.
  

• Proficiency in computer operations, including the use of Microsoft Office and engineering software, is expected. In addition, the candidate should be adept at working with various CAD software applications.
  

• Strong competence in common core math skills is required, as these skills underpin accurate calculations and material takeoffs, contributing to the overall quality of technical drawings and project execution.
