Survey Scripter

The Role
This is a great opportunity for an individual with some experience in PHP who is keen to learn our in-house programming framework. The majority of the role will be focussed on scripting and testing online social research surveys (web-based forms, like this), based on source documents provided by our research teams (see example attached). There is also potential to work on other web-based applications (web portals) as well as use an 'off the shelf' survey product (Voxco). Significant initial and on-going training will be provided. Our surveys can be completed by people all over Australia, including the general community, employees, business owners, public servants, teachers, students and more. Our projects are often very high profile and our surveys provide an important source of evidence for government decision making. This is a junior-level role. To be successful in this role you are probably someone who likes to program or develop websites in their spare time, who loves to learn, and who takes ownership of tasks given to them. You will work in a small, high-performing team that is a significant contributor to the companyu0027s research and consulting work. We are looking for a problem solver who can take a logical, analytical, and thorough approach to their work. You are expected to be an excellent communicator who has strong attention to detail. You will partner directly with our research teams to deliver excellent evidence-based outcomes for our public sector clients in understanding the views of Australians across diverse groups and topic areas. Requirements, qualifications, and skills Qualifications

• Minimum undergraduate degree

• Strong proficiency in the Microsoft suite, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams
• Strong proficiency in working with data, numbers, and percentages
• Solid understanding of/ experience in PHP
• Experience with Javascript is advantageous
• Experience writing scripts to extract data from relational databases would be helpful
• Hands-on knowledge and experience with tools and techniques used in data analysis, data manipulation, and visualization using R (or equivalent) programming language is advantageous
• Experience working with SPSS, Q, or other statistics packages would be advantageous but is not essential. Soft Skills
• Confident communication skills including clear spoken and written English
• Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including the confidence to interact with a diverse range of people
• A thorough approach and attention to detail required to ensure a high level of accuracy
• A willingness to learn
• A strong commitment to excellence in client service, strong service ethos, and a hands-on approach to getting things done
• Ability to work independently and within a team
• Experience within the social research sector would be advantageous but is not essential.
