Job Description

J.P. Morgan manages in excess of $350Bn of collateral balances and processes 20M transactions each year. More than 200 collateral clients globally, with 6,400 CSAs for over 100 third-party buy side clients.

As a Trading Service Associate in Collateral Services Operations, you will support internal & external clients (predominantly Banks & Broker Dealers) in managing their margin obligations/exposures. You will provides international securities and escrow management in support of clients’ derivatives exposures in line with their International Swaps And Derivatives Association (ISDA) Agreements

Primary product support falls into 3 categories: Derivatives Collateral Management (DCM), Securities Collateral Management (SCM) & Margin Control. 

Primary functions span three global teams:

  • Core Operations own day to day processes
  • Middle Office have ownership of overall operational client satisfaction
  • Client Implementations own the onboarding of new and incremental client/business to the CSO platform

Job responsibilities: 

  • Review current processing to ensure all controls maintained and up to date to fit with the current tasks. Inform and work with Risk Management upon identifying potential risks.
  • Identify gaps in processes and full compliance of SSAE16.
  • Responsible for documenting and updating current workflows and task lists. Implementing any new controls and changes to workflow after appropriate sign off to minimize financial loss
  • Pro-actively assess and recommend process improvements to assist in risk mitigation. Communicate all issues effectively and ensure understanding by the team. 
  • Escalate issues to the Manager and be involved in taking action to escalate and resolve with the other party. A review is to be done on the issue to ensure procedures are updated.
  • Investigate and when applicable, assist in implementing new procedures or systems that enhance the overall service of the group.
  • Ensure all work received is actioned, accounted for and all control procedures are adhered to. Issues raised must be either resolved or escalated if necessary.
  • Ensure that the specialist’s checklist is followed and all items actioned on a daily basis, with sign off occurring throughout the day as necessary.
  • To be involved in the resolution of outstanding issues, to make decisions based on precedent and experience when confronted with frequently conflicting priorities. Where necessary, liaise with other areas to agree a satisfactory conclusion, ensuring minimum impact to Trading Services
  • Be involved in the review of workflows, review reporting of all Key Performance Indicator, and other statistics required by management.
  • Assist in tracking trends in work volumes, including reconciliation errors and document any negative trends and proposed solutions.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in Securities Lending, Settlements, Trade Support/Middle Office or Corporate Action role
  • Good knowledge of Global Financial Markets
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Excel
  • Strong inter-personal and communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with strategic internal & external partners
  • Strong analytical skills coupled with independent and reliable decision-making mindset including taking the initiative to take lead in order to drive change and continuously enhance controls

  • Continued focus on improving processes and procedures
  • Flexible, follow tight deadlines, organize and prioritize work and comfortable to deal with pressure and fast pace environment

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • Bachelor degree or above preferred
  • Knowledge of automation tools such as Tableaux / Alteryx and Python would be beneficial
