Calculate final wages, including accrued vacation, bonuses, and other entitlements, for departing employees according to company policies and relevant labor laws.
Review and verify data input, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Stay updated on local payroll regulations, including tax laws, wage and hour laws, and employment termination guidelines, to ensure compliance in last pay processing.
Maintain detailed records of last pay transactions and prepare accurate reports for internal auditing purposes i.e Last Pay tracker report, Stale check reports and other business unit report (uberticket reports).
Collaborate with HR Offboarding, and other relevant departments to obtain necessary information and resolve discrepancies in last pay calculations.
Respond to inquiries from departing employees regarding their final paychecks, providing clear and timely communication throughout the process.
Identify opportunities for streamlining last pay processes and implementing improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Payroll Specialist specializing in last pay processing to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of payroll processes, regulations, and compliance standards, with a focus on accurately calculating and processing final paychecks for employees departing the company. The Payroll Specialist will collaborate closely with HR and other departments to ensure seamless and accurate last pay processing.
Qualifications;
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
Experience: Proven experience (3-5 years) in payroll processing, with specific experience in last pay calculations and processing preferred.
Knowledge: Thorough understanding of payroll principles, practices, and regulations, including familiarity with relevant software and systems (e.g., NetSuite, Microsoftteams and reporting).
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail and accuracy in calculations.
Communication: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate with employees, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, as well as independently with minimal supervision.
Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Confidentiality: Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and integrity.
Certifications:
Professional certifications such as Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) are a plus.
