Job Description - Science Teacher (DP Biology)

Overview Position DP/MYP Science Teacher Job Code N/A Reports to Divisional Head/Assistant Head of School Direct Reports N/A Division ERI Department EC12 Role Purpose The Science Teacher will develop a curriculum consistent with the MYP framework and the MYP Science Subject Guide and will create units of inquiry relating to the various Science subjects. This position supports and implements the learning program in accordance with the policies and philosophy of NEOM EC-12 under the supervision and direction of the Divisional Head/Assistant Head of School and the Head of School.  Key Accountabilities & Activities Key Responsibilities Curriculum Delivery:
Develop and implement engaging lessons aligned with the MYP and DP Science frameworks.
Foster scientific curiosity, critical thinking, and inquiry-based learning.
Differentiated Instruction:
Tailor teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning needs, ensuring an inclusive science classroom environment.
Encourage hands-on experiments and application of scientific principles.
Inquiry-Based Learning:
Facilitate inquiry-based learning experiences, encouraging students to explore scientific concepts independently.
Guide students in developing a deep understanding of scientific methodology.
Assessment and Feedback:
Develop and administer assessments to gauge student understanding and progress in science.
Provide timely and constructive feedback to support students in enhancing their scientific skills.
Collaboration:
Collaborate with colleagues to integrate interdisciplinary approaches and create a cohesive learning experience.
Foster positive relationships with other DP and MYP teachers, contributing to cross-subject connections, particularly with subjects that complement science.
Professional Development:
Stay updated on scientific advancements, teaching methodologies, and curriculum developments.
Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills.
Parent and Community Engagement:
Communicate with parents regarding student progress and involvement in science-related activities.
Collaborate with the community to enhance the science learning experience.

Background, Skills & Qualifications Knowledge, Skills and Experience Educational Background:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Science, or a related field.
Experience teaching (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP).
Teaching Experience:
Proven experience as a Science teacher, preferably within an IB MYP and DP framework, specializing in a DP Science subject area.
Scientific Knowledge:
In-depth understanding of various scientific disciplines, research methodologies, and practical applications.
Ability to convey complex scientific ideas in an accessible manner.
Collaboration and Communication:
Strong collaboration and communication skills for effective teamwork.
Experience working with diverse learning needs and creating an inclusive science classroom environment.
Curriculum Development:
Expertise in curriculum development based on the IB MYP and DP frameworks.
Assessment and Reporting:
Proficient in developing and administering assessments; ability to report on student progress in science.
Professional Development and Adaptability:
Commitment to continuous professional development and staying updated on scientific education trends.
Adaptability to integrate new teaching methodologies and approaches.
Qualifications Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Science, or a related field.
Desirable Qualifications:
Specialization or additional certification in Science Education.
Previous experience teaching within IB MYP and DP frameworks.
