Job Description - Head of Legal Semi-Flexi Shift

The Head of Legal is responsible for guiding the Corporate Legal Services team and managing all associated corporate legal and advisory activities. The primary responsibilities encompass team management, legal counseling, legal document creation and review, legal risk management, and ensuring strict adherence to applicable laws and regulations. Your expertise will not only position our company as a beacon of legal excellence but will also leave a legacy that resonates throughout the industry. Employment Type: Full-time

Schedule: Semi-flexi shift

Work Arrangement: Hybrid, Metro Manila (any nearest Emapta site)

What are we looking for

  • Juris Doctor or Bachelor of Law degree
  • Admission to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction
  • Minimum of 7 to 10 years' experience in corporate law, including at least 5 years in a leadership role
  • Experience in international corporate law, incorporation, and employment law
  • Excellent acumen in reviewing, analyzing, and drafting documents; and strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated competencies in critical thinking, negotiation, risk analysis, issue investigation, evaluation, judgment & driving solutions within the legal framework
  • Thoroughness in accomplishing task and efficiently allocating resources regardless of the complexity of the subject.

What will you do in our team

  • Team Leadership: Oversee the Corporate Legal Services team's operations. This responsibility encompasses task delegation, workload management, and ensuring the timeliness and quality of team output. To foster a high-performing team, you'll also provide necessary training, coaching, and mentoring. By setting clear expectations and encouraging open communication, you'll create an environment conducive to growth and high productivity.
  • Legal Advice and Team Leadership: Lead the team to provide comprehensive and timely legal advice to various departments across our organization. Your in-depth understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and precedents will enable you to equip the team to respond effectively to advice requests. As the primary legal resource, your role extends to translating complex legal concepts into clear, actionable guidance, which will inform business strategy and decision-making processes. Your expertise will not only drive operational and strategic decisions but also ensure they're legally sound and aligned with our business objectives. Your leadership will help create a responsive legal team capable of providing robust legal support to all organizational departments.
  • Legal Documentation: Supervising the creation, review, and finalization of all legal documents is another critical aspect of your role. You'll ensure every document aligns with the relevant laws and regulations, thereby protecting the organization's interests and mitigating legal risks. Your keen eye for detail and extensive knowledge in corporate law will help in drafting contracts, agreements, and other legal documents that are comprehensive, clear, and enforceable.
  • Legal Templates: To streamline routine transactions and ensure consistent legal compliance, you'll create and review legal templates used across the organization. This responsibility involves ensuring that templates are accurate, up-to-date, and designed in a way that promotes efficiency and adherence to legal standards.
  • Contract Negotiation Leadership and Team Supervision: Leading and training the Corporate Legal Services team in contract negotiation. Your key focus will be to ensure that all team members are adequately supervised, trained, and well-versed in our organization's negotiation processes. Using your legal expertise and negotiation skills, you'll guide the team to secure favorable terms that align with our best interests. Your goal will be to foster a team proficient in crafting contracts that are balanced, transparent, and reflect our organizational values and objectives. Through this training and supervision, you'll build a team that effectively represents the company's interests in all contractual engagements.
  • Inter-Departmental Training: Develop and deliver training programs on relevant legal issues for various departments. By sharing your legal knowledge, you'll foster a culture of legal awareness and compliance throughout the organization. These sessions will enhance overall understanding and application of legal standards, empowering team members to make informed decisions in their respective roles.
  • Stakeholder Relationship Management: Building and maintaining productive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. This network includes legal advisors, regulators, and other legal professionals. Your ability to foster relationships will ensure the organization has the necessary legal support, advice, and guidance when needed, facilitating the smooth operation of our legal processes.
  • New Entity Incorporation Management: Tasked with researching laws relating to the incorporation and management of entities in different regions. Following this, you'll manage the process of incorporating these entities. This requires a nuanced understanding of international corporate law, an eye for detail, and strong project management skills to ensure a seamless expansion of our operations.
