Job Description - BPO - Healthcare Data Entry Associate

As a Data Entry Associate, your job is to ensure patient data is entered correctly and complies with healthcare privacy standards.

How You Spend Your Eight Hours

  • Work closely with the Director of Operations on routine and project-based data entry tasks

  • Accurately read and extract data from a variety of sources, including electronic healthcare records (EHRs), human resources information systems (HRIS), internal company systems and reports, and other internal and external sources

  • Accurately input data into standardized spreadsheets, data tables, and databases on a consistent, scheduled basis

  • Create data analysis reports and visualizations using pre-defined templates and instructions

  • Manually reformat old data into updated systems

  • Collect reports and data from internal and external systems and extract/input data as needed

  • Verify, validate, and resolve discrepancies in data as needed

  • Maintain high levels of productivity and efficiency

  • Maintain proficiency in relevant software, including Microsoft Excel, EHRs, and HRIS

  • Maintain confidentiality and healthcare privacy in accordance with applicable rules, laws, regulations, and company policies and procedures

What You Must Possess

  • Minimum Requirements:
    • High school diploma or GED

    • At least 6 months of experience in data entry

    • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel

    • Basic knowledge of healthcare data confidentiality and HIPAA requirements

    • Basic knowledge of data reports and visualizations

    • Enthusiasm and independence working with a growing team

  • Preferred Experience:
    • At least 1 year of experience in data entry

    • Advanced experience with healthcare data confidentiality and HIPAA requirements

    • Advanced experience with different data types, including qualitative and quantitative data, time-series data, cross-sectional data, and structured data

    • At least 1 year of experience in data analysis and report writing

    • Intermediate or better experience with analysis and application of descriptive and inferential statistics

  • Can perform at least 10,000 keystrokes per hour (KPH) (preferably 12,500 KPH)

  • Can type at least 40 words per minute (WPM) (preferably 50+ WPM)

  • No suspension/exclusion/debarment from participating in federal health care programs (e.g., TriWest, TRICARE, Medicare, Medicaid, SCHIP)

  • Treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position

  • Works well under pressure

  • Is professional, responsible, and proactive in accomplishing tasks

  • Is observant, prompt, and solution-oriented when problems arise

  • Has excellent critical thinking and analytic skills

  • Works well in group problem-solving situations

  • Uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics

  • Uses intuition and experience to complement data

  • Can design workflow and procedures
