Job Description - General Manager

Our client, a member of a large local healthcare group, is looking for a General Manager for one of its partner hospitals. This is a tertiary general hospital and reputable training institution located in Cebu. The role will be on a consultant capacity but will be given a benefits package.

Duties and Responsibilities include but may not be limited to:

  • Fully responsible for the attainment of the hospital financial and operational targets.
  • Develop a strategic plan to advance the Company's Mission and Objectives and to promote profitability, and growth as an organization.
  • Align the thrusts and direction of the Company with that of the holding Company.
  • Oversee Company operations to ensure service efficiency, quality, and cost-effective management of resources.
  • Plan, develop, and implement strategies for generating resources and/or revenues for the company.
  • Approve Company operational procedures, policies, and standards.
  • Control the annual budget and plans the same for approval of the Board and sees its implementation.
  • Review activity reports and financial statements to determine progress and status in attaining objectives and revise objectives and plans in accordance with current conditions.
  • Evaluate performance of executives for compliance with established policies and objectives of the Company and contributions in attaining objectives.
  • Represent the Company in functions deemed necessary and proper to the public image and/or operations of the Corporation.
  • Present the results of hospital operations to hospital's Senior Management on a regular basis in accordance with the hospital's meeting schedules.
  • Implement the agreed hospital-based training programs of hospital for latter's students and staff.
  • Preside over meetings of the Management Committee and serve as ex-officio member of the Executive Committee.
  • Approve the appointment, reassignment, retirement, and dismissal for cause of personnel as recommended by the HR Head.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Licensed Doctor, any specialization.
  • Solid and successful work experience in hospital operations and management; has done P & L management.
  • Open to doctors who are currently GMs of a medical facility or has headed a hospital's ancillary services or big hospital departments.
  • Applicant is currently based in Cebu or has practiced in Cebu; knows the dialect and is well-connected with the medical and healthcare community.
  • Has in-depth understanding of various health care regulations and laws.
  • Very good communication skills to effectively engage with patients and employees at all levels
  • Possesses strong leadership and managerial skills; able to lead a large team of professionals from various departments/disciplines
  • Has crisis management skills and is able to deal with issues effectively while upholding the institution's reputation
