Job Description - Senior Business Analyst

Job Summary

The Business Analyst will support the delivery of projects and lead the coordination ofsoftware and system changes in the Commercial Airline Technology team. The BAwill apply their skills to elicit and document requirements, analyze and design solutions, coordinate with technical delivery/development teams and vendors,validate and test changes, manage software and organizational changes through to completion, and plan and execute implementation/cutover activities. The analyst will support projects and initiatives throughout the lifecycle at thedirection of the Project Manager, Delivery Lead, and Product Lead/Owner. Therole may support BAU work and entail escalation of Operational Support for criticalapplications under the portfolio.

Duties and Responsibilities

Systems Implementation and Delivery

  • Manage and coordinate delivery of softwarechanges and releases. Prepare delivery andimplementation plans for projects and initiatives.Coordinate business stakeholders, technicalteams, and vendors as per the delivery plan.
  • Support delivery of major projects involvingCommercial Airline Technology. Provide businessanalysis support and consulting advice throughoutthe duration of the project. Manage applicationconfigurations as part of delivery.
  • Deliver BA outcomes under agreedgovernance standards, delivery methodologies,work practices, systems, and tools. Apply bestpractice BA methodologies to support the delivery ofimplementation projects and system changes.
  • Facilitate meetings with internal/externalstakeholders to communicate updates and driveproject outcomes. Appropriately escalate to seniormanagement issues impacting the delivery ofapplication changes.
  • Transition projects and system changes tooperational teams using the agreed handover process.Include quality documentation.
  • Work with stakeholder groups to obtainengagement feedback to measure project/program effectiveness
Requirements Analysis
  • Elicit business and system requirements and liaisewith vendors and technical delivery teams. Act asthe conduit between business and technical teamsto ensure the right solution is delivered.
  • Ensure detailed business and functionalrequirements are clearly and accuratelydocumented. Clearly and simply articulate businessrequirements from a business perspective, whilealso producing functional documentation thatprovides sufficient detail.
  • Review and validate high-level processes, systems,and reporting to ensure full coverage ofrequirements. Conduct gap analysis betweencurrent processes and future state processes
Solutions Design
  • Review requirements and providerecommendations regarding software solutions.Work with product owners, architecture team, andvendors to design and document solutions thatmeet business requirements. Ensure solution is inaccordance with Jetstar IT standards.
  • Obtain key inputs from stakeholders, SMEs andarchitecture teams and identify solutioninterdependencies. Ensure dependencies andconstraints from other inflight initiatives areidentified and highlighted.
  • Participate in design reviews and walk-throughs tocommunicate system designs and validateproposed solutions.
Quality Assurance andTesting
  • Define testing scope and work with users andtesting teams to complete testing (e.g. UAT).
  • Support Testing and Quality Assurance throughdocumentation of testable requirements andexecution of testing.
  • Ensure configuration and changes of applicationsimplemented match their intended design andcomply with IT architectural standards.
Change Management
  • Evaluate planned system and software changes tominimise risk and operational issues. Develop,review and document change management inputs,including business impact assessments, trainingand communication needs and risk assessments.
  • Ensure changes are documented and aligned withJetstar and IT Change Management processes.Ensure changes also meet compliancerequirements, e.g. PCI, PI, and cyber security.
  • Communicate the change to internal and externalstakeholders
Process & Documentation
  • Document existing and new processes as required.Promote standard operating procedures and followdelivery framework to ensure consistent deliveryexperience.
  • Update and maintain the team’s knowledge base and delivery templates.
Systems Support &Operations
  • Provide additional support to the systems support team(BAU) when needed. Analyse system issues andcoordinate resources and suppliers to resolve them within agreed SLAs.
  • Serve as an escalation point if required due toresource constraints from the Systems Support team.Assist in coordinating support of tier 1 applicationswith major operational and commercial impactswhen required.

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualificationin business /InformationTechnology

  • PMP or Prince2certification and/or Lean / Six Sigma certification isa plus.

  • Minimum 2 yearsexperience as a BusinessAnalyst (preferably inthe Technology field)

  • Minimum 2 years ofexperience in a Deliveryor Implementation role(preferably in theTechnology field)

  • Experience working onand deliveringsuccessful outcomes inlarge-scale IT projectinitiatives.

  • Experience working in the aviation and travelindustry (preferred)

  • Experience withworking within adynamic and fast-paced team environment

  • Experience working ina collaborative teamenvironment.
