Position: Sr. Planning and Design Manager (Hospitality - Grafik Mactan & Crimson Suites Mactan Projects)

Job Summary:

The Sr. Technical Planning and Design Manager for Hotel Projects is responsible for overseeing and managing all technical aspects of hotel planning, design, and project execution. This role requires a strong blend of technical expertise, project management skills, and creative vision to ensure the successful realization of innovative and functional hotel spaces that meet both guest expectations and operational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Design Strategy:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive technical design strategy aligned with the hotel's overall vision, brand identity, and operational goals.
  • Lead the integration of technical and design elements to create holistic and impactful guest experiences.

Project Planning and Coordination:

  • Plan, coordinate, and manage the entire lifecycle of hotel projects, including renovations, expansions, and new constructions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, external consultants, and stakeholders to ensure seamless project delivery.

Architectural and Engineering Leadership:

  • Provide technical guidance and leadership to architects, designers, and engineers in developing innovative and practical design solutions.
  • Oversee the creation of detailed technical drawings, specifications, and documentation.

Space Optimization and Functionality:

  • Optimize space utilization through thoughtful space planning, layout design, and workflow analysis.
  • Ensure that design concepts enhance guest experiences, operational efficiency, and revenue generation.

Budget and Resource Management:

  • Develop project budgets, monitor expenditures, and manage resources effectively to ensure projects are delivered within financial constraints.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising design quality.

Quality Assurance and Compliance:

  • Ensure all design plans and construction activities adhere to local building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to maintain design integrity and construction quality.

Vendor and Material Selection:

  • Collaborate with procurement teams to select vendors, suppliers, and materials that align with design concepts and quality standards.
  • Negotiate contracts and ensure timely procurement of required materials and furnishings.

Innovation and Sustainability:

  • Integrate innovative design trends and sustainable practices to enhance the hotel's environmental performance and guest appeal.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and design advancements to drive continuous improvement.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead and inspire a diverse team of technical designers, architects, engineers, and project managers.
  • Foster a collaborative and creative work environment, providing mentorship and professional growth opportunities.
  • Communication and Collaboration:
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration across departments, ensuring alignment of project goals and expectations.
  • Present design concepts and project updates to senior management and stakeholders as needed.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Civil Engineering, or a related technical field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Professional licensure or certification relevant to the field.
  • Extensive experience in technical design, project management, and leadership roles within the hospitality or related industry.
  • Proficiency in architectural and design software, as well as project management tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of sustainable design principles, construction practices, and industry best practices.
  • Ability to balance creative design with technical feasibility and operational considerations.
