Ambulance driver

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Drives ambulance to transport sick, injured or convalescent person to and from the hospital.Assisted by AMBULANCE ATTENDANT, carries or assists patients into and out of the ambulance, using stretcher or wheelchair. Covers patients with blankets and exercises care in moving patients in order not to aggravate injury or disease. Administers first aid such as bandaging, splinting and giving oxygen.Maintains ambulance in efficient operating condition, making minor mechanical repairs and adjustments. Checks gas, oil, water, and tire pressures after each trip. Mops and cleans inside of ambulance to keep it neat and orderly. Uses knowledge and skill in driving to avoid sudden motions that are detrimental to the patients.May be required to have Red Cross first aid training certificate.
