Job Description

The Category Management Expert is a key strategic role responsible for leading and managing assigned procurement categories, ensuring optimal sourcing strategies, supplier relationships, and cost-effective procurement practices. This role requires a deep understanding of category-specific markets, strong analytical skills, and the ability to negotiate and manage frame agreements with suppliers.

The Category Management Expert will play a crucial role in driving cost savings, mitigating risks, and improving overall efficiency within the procurement function.

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Category Strategy Development:

  • Conduct thorough market research and analysis to understand industry trends, supplier landscape, and cost drivers within assigned categories.

  • Develop and implement comprehensive category strategies that align with overall business objectives and procurement goals.

  • Identify potential risks and opportunities within categories and develop mitigation/exploitation plans.

• Sourcing and Negotiation:

  • Lead sourcing initiatives, including RFx (RFI, RFP, RFQ) development and execution.

  • Evaluate supplier proposals, conduct negotiations, and select preferred suppliers based on total cost of ownership and value proposition.

  • Negotiate and establish frame agreements with strategic suppliers, ensuring favorable terms and conditions.

• Supplier Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.

  • Monitor supplier performance, conduct regular business reviews, and address performance issues.

  • Foster collaborative relationships to drive innovation and continuous improvement.

• Contract Management:

  • Manage frame agreements and contracts throughout their lifecycle.

  • Ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions.

  • Identify and implement opportunities for contract optimization and value creation.

• Stakeholder Management:

  • Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders across different departments to understand their needs and requirements.

  • Communicate category strategies and sourcing decisions to relevant stakeholders.

  • Build consensus and alignment on procurement initiatives.

• Performance Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to cost savings, supplier performance, and contract compliance.

  • Generate regular reports and presentations to communicate category performance and progress against objectives.

REQUIREMENTS:

• At least 5 years Procurement/Supply Chain Experience

• Experience in writing and implementing strategic sourcing initiatives

• At least 1-2 years leadership experience in coaching or reviewing the work of lower-level professionals and other similar activities

• BS Engineering (ECE, EE, IE, CE, or CoE) or Degree in Supply Management (DSM)/Marketing or any Degree in Business Administration 

  CPM/CPSM Certification an advantage C.

• Monitoring and Compliance: Monitor adherence to frame agreement terms and conditions by both the organization and suppliers.

• Renewal and Optimization: Manage the renewal process for frame agreements, identifying opportunities for optimization and renegotiation.

• Frame Agreement Responsibilities:

• Development and Negotiation: Lead the development and negotiation of frame agreements with strategic suppliers, ensuring alignment with category strategies and business requirements.

• Implementation and Communication: Oversee the implementation of frame agreements, including communication to internal stakeholders and training on usage and compliance.
