Our Compliance team is looking for experienced professionals to join us in Makati with the role of Compliance Assurance Officer .

In this role, you will, under the supervision of the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) with reporting responsibility to the Board of Directors through the Corporate Governance & Compliance Committee, perform duties involved in planning, organizing, leading, and controlling the oversight and coordination of the Banks Compliance System implementation.

What the role will entail

  • Develop and implement a Compliance Program/Plan that supports the Banks goals and strategies, identify relevant laws, regulations, policies, and ethical standards, analyze and prioritize compliance risks for mitigation and monitoring, prepare and annually update the Compliance Program with periodic testing mechanisms, coordinate bank-wide implementation with various units, and collaborate with the Chief Risk Officer and Chief Audit Executive to optimize the use of the Banks governance resources for achieving governance, risk management, and internal control goals
  • Act as the central point of contact for regulatory matters, disseminate relevant banking laws and regulations to appropriate units, hold quarterly meetings and regular dialogues to update compliance officers, develop and implement training programs in coordination with EastWest Academy to raise compliance awareness, ensure the Compliance Division has well-trained and competent personnel, and provide active advisory services on compliance matters and queries.
  • Serve as the principal liaison with regulators, consulting on regulatory requirements, compliance issues, and specific provisions of laws, rules, and regulations, while overseeing and coordinating regulatory examinations and facilitating discussions with examiners during on-site reviews
  • Coordinate and monitor the Banks compliance efforts, assessing policy appropriateness under evolving conditions, participating in strategic planning and product development with a focus on compliance advisory, reviewing audit and regulatory reports, ensuring corrective actions, periodically evaluating and enhancing compliance functions, updating the Corporate Governance Manual, and managing AML-related activities in accordance with SEC requirements as needed in the absence of an AML Compliance Officer
  • Report to the Board of Directors through the Corporate Governance and Compliance Committee, advising Senior Management on significant compliance issues, providing annual updates on the Banks overall compliance status, and informing about relevant regulations and updates.
  • Ensure the allocation of appropriate resources for the Compliance Program, supervise the Compliance Divisions operations including logistics monitoring, manage planning and organizational aspects, lead and control compliance activities, and oversee training and development of division officers and staff, including monitoring and updating Individual Development Plans (IDPs) as needed.

What we're looking for

  • Holder of a Bachelor's Degree in either Business, Economics, any related field
  • Possess at least three years of relevant banking experience, including one year of AML-related experience
  • Proficient in AML regulations, banking operations, and Microsoft Office Applications, with good oral, communication, presentation, facilitation, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Audit skills are an advantage
  • Demonstrates integrity, attention to detail, flexibility, adaptability, and a strong work ethic, with a commitment to organizational learning and achieving divisional and bank goals.
  • Excels in building a network of contacts in the banking industry, is a team player, results-driven, works with minimal supervision, and possesses excellent people and interpersonal skills.
