Job Description - Controller (Masters degree in Accounting | US Accounting | QuickBooks)

ROLE SUMMARY

Our client is looking for a Controller who will be responsible for overseeing the accounting team and ensuring accurate and timely reporting of corporate financials. This role involves comprehensive financial analysis, reconciliation, and the implementation of efficient processes to meet regulatory requirements. The Controller will play a crucial role in maintaining a professional working environment, fostering leadership, and contributing to the strategic financial planning of the company. This role requires collaboration with leadership and property teams, and coordination with external auditors, tax authorities, and lenders. This role will report directly to the Company’s Integrator and work closely with various departments to ensure compliance with GAAP, USALI, and State and Federal regulations.

SCHEDULE: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time (8:00 PM – 5:00 AM Philippine Standard Time), follows Philippine holidays

POSITION TYPE: Full Time

WORK ARRANGEMENT : Remote

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Oversee the company’s day-to-day finance, accounting, and administrative functions.
  • Ensure the completion of processes required for month-end, quarterly, and year-end closeouts including bank reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement reviews
  • Present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to the leadership team
  • Generate monthly financial statements and month-end close
  • Create cash flow reports and keep the CEO updated on changes
  • Prepare and review journal entries weekly
  • Manage and perform the accounts receivable and payable functions including inter-company billing
  • Create and manage the forecasting and budgeting processes to ensure all entities are funded properly
  • Identify, analyze, and report any positive or negative trends within the financials to keep the company ahead of any potential issues
  • Maintain day-to-day oversight of corporate compliance plan and develop and implement policies and procedures for the accounting, finance, and operations departments
  • Prepare monthly profit and loss and cash flow forecasts with analysis of actual performance relative to budget
  • Serve as audit liaison for annual audits
  • Review property tax returns
  • Review expense activities including AP and employee expenses
  • Manage the treasury
  • Handle vendor management, including verifying vendor credentials and new vendor onboarding
  • Work with external CPA, providing documentation and reports for loans and special projects
  • Lead the evaluation and implementation of core accounting processes and internal control procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate all financial policies and procedures necessary for compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), USALI, State and Federal regulations, and industry-specific standards
  • Oversee the company’s bookkeeper, providing management and leadership

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA/MBA is preferred)
  • Master’s degree in Accounting required
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional accounting experience
  • Experience with multi-entity accounting or multi-unit franchise experience preferred
  • Experience in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting for multi-entity operations
  • Proficient in QuickBooks Online
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Strong Excel skills for financial analysis, modeling, and reporting
  • Ability to use accounting software to prepare financial and payroll reports
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide strategic insights
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present complex financial information clearly and concisely
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks
