About the Role -
The Expense Specialist manages and analyzes expense -related data, with a focus on headcount, hiring activity, and variance analysis. You will support budgeting and forecasting by ensuring hiring plans, payroll expenses, and departmental spend are accurately tracked and managed according to targets. This role regularly interacts with Finance, Talent, and business stakeholders to align plans with actuals. As we continue to evolve our finance operations, you will also play a key role in embracing innovation by proactively learning and integrating AI tools to enhance data accuracy and drive efficiency across our financial workflows.
Key Responsibilities -
â Hiring Plan Management: Manage the end -to -end hiring plan by coordinating backfills tied to departing employees, new hires, and terminations. Proactively flag spend (financial forecast) risks or timing shifts to ensure budgets accurately reflect current staffing activity and reconciling data across HR and Finance systems to ensure integrity.
â Expense & Variance Analysis: Support month -end close by investigating payroll and people -related cost variances against budget and providing understanding of the variances, along with suggestions on what can be done to fix it in future
â Budgeting & Forecast Support: Help support FP&A leadership with the company budget and forecasts, focused on headcount -driven expenses while proactively flagging spend risks, trends, opportunities or timing shifts.
â Stakeholder Coordination: Partner with the Talent team and business units to validate hiring updates and respond to ad -hoc headcount queries.
â Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to automate workflows and streamline headcount -related processes.
Requirements
Job Requirements and Credentials:
â 1 -2 years of relevant work experience.
â Analytical Skills: Strong ability to perform variance analysis and reconciliations using structured datasets and financial systems (e.g., Adaptive, Pigment, Google Sheets, Excel, and Bamboo). Knowledge and experience with these systems of equivalent is great to have (but not a must)
â Adaptability & Ownership: Ability to work effectively in a group setting while also working independently. You feel empowered to make decisions and take action in ambiguous situations.
â Technical & AI Mindset: A strong willingness to use and learn AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Gemini, etc.) to enhance productivity and streamline FP&A workflows. This includes being open to learning new platforms like Pigment.
â Communication & Detail: High attention to detail with the ability to coordinate across teams and communicate proactively and clearly.
â Nice to Have: Background in accounting, finance operations, data analysis, or a related field.
