Façade Structure Designer

Mission/Core of Purpose of the Job:

The Facade Structural Engineer is responsible for providing structural analysis (FEM)

Calculations, and design solutions for facade systems. This role ensures the structural integrity of the building's exterior, from cladding and glazing to other facade components, while adhering to industry standards, safety regulations, and project specifications. You will work closely with architects, designers, and project teams to ensure that the facade systems are designed effectively and efficiently, with a focus on quality and sustainability.

Key Tasks:

•  Perform structural calculations and analysis for facade systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications, local building codes, and industry standards.


• Work with architects, facade designers, and other engineering teams to integrate structural requirements into the overall building design, ensuring seamless coordination and integration of facade systems.


• Translating building movements into façade design requirements.


• Assist in selecting appropriate materials for facade systems based on structural integrity, sustainability, and cost considerations.


•  Provide thermal and environmental calculations, ensuring that facade systems meet performance criteria such as energy efficiency, acoustic performance, and weather resistance.


• Prepare and review technical documentation, including detailed sketches/drawings, calculations, and specifications. Ensure that all documents are accurate, clear, and comply with project requirements.


• Ensure that all facade systems comply with local and international building codes, regulations, and standards. Conduct performance testing and analysis to verify the facade systems' integrity.


• Resolve complex technical issues related to facade engineering, providing solutions for challenges during design, manufacturing, and installation phases.


• Conduct site inspections to monitor the installation of facade systems, ensuring that they comply with approved designs and specifications. Provide technical support during installation and resolve any issues that arise on-site.


• Assist the Commercial Team by reviewing tender documents and providing technical input on pricing and project scope, ensuring that all technical requirements are met.


• Coordinate with the project manager and other teams to ensure that the facade systems are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.


• Stay updated with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in facade engineering, applying this knowledge to future projects to improve design, efficiency, and performance.

Education:

Bachelor’s or Master degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

Experience Required: 5 – 8 years

Training:

Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., STAAD Pro, Robot, AutoCAD, Revit).
