Inpatient Medical Coding Trainer

Qualifications:

• License/Certifications: Currently holds and maintain at least 1 role-related certification (CCS or CIC for Inpatient roles, CPC, COC, CCS, CCS-P for outpatient roles)
• Extensive experience in IP Coding (Inpatient) and any EMR Systems such as Epic, Cerner, and Meditech
• Current AHIMA/AAPC credentials such as CPC, COC, CCS-P, CCS, or CIC required. Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) credentials such as, CDIP and/or CCD is a plus.
• Leading content and module development, Review inpatient medical records for validation of DRG assignment.
• Utilize industry-recognized references to support their review findings, such as the ICD-10 Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting, AHIMA Standards of Ethical Coding, AHIMA Practice Briefs related to compliant querying, and AHA Coding Clinic
  

Job Description:

• The trainer will focus on developing the skills and knowledge of new hires in areas such as inpatient medical coding, charge capture, and related clinical skills.
• Evaluating the performance of trainees and providing feedback to ensure they meet competency standards.
• Participating in the development of training materials and programs to ensure they are up-to-date with the latest clinical practices.
