Job Description - Insolvency Specialist

Job Brief  


We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Insolvency Specialist to support our Partners across a range of personal and corporate insolvency engagements. This role is responsible for assisting with insolvency administration, financial investigations, stakeholder communications, and regulatory compliance while providing high-quality administrative support throughout each engagement. 


Working closely with experienced insolvency professionals, the successful candidate will manage client files, analyse financial information, prepare reports, and support the administration of formal insolvency matters. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional looking to build a long-term career in insolvency, restructuring, and corporate recovery within a collaborative and supportive environment.  


Responsibilities 




  • File Management: Provide administrative and operational support to Partners by managing client files, preparing documentation, and maintaining professional correspondence. 






  • Insolvency Administration: Assist with the administration of personal and corporate insolvency matters, including compliance requirements and statutory lodgements. 






  • Stakeholder Reporting: Prepare professional reports, correspondence, and documentation for creditors, clients, regulators, and other stakeholders. 






  • Financial Investigation: Analyse financial statements, accounting records, and business information to assist with investigations into financial performance and the causes of business failure. 






  • Asset Realisation: Assist with identifying, collecting, valuing, and coordinating the sale of assets as part of insolvency and restructuring engagements. 






  • Regulatory Compliance: Support investigations into directors' duties, statutory obligations, and potential breaches of insolvency legislation. 






  • Engagement Support: Assist with the day-to-day management of insolvency engagements, including processing receipts and payments, trade-on activities, and employee entitlement calculations. 






  • Data & Record Management: Maintain accurate records, update client information, and ensure all file documentation is complete, organised, and compliant. 






  • Creditor Liaison: Communicate professionally with creditors and stakeholders via telephone and email, responding to enquiries and providing timely updates. 






  • Professional Development: Continuously develop technical knowledge of Australian insolvency legislation, procedures, and industry best practices. 




Requirements 




  • Proven experience in accounting, bookkeeping, insolvency, restructuring, or a related financial services environment is highly regarded.  






  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.  






  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial statements and business records.  






  • Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills aligned with Australian professional standards.  






  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple engagements and competing deadlines.  






  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy when preparing financial reports and maintaining documentation.  






  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with Partners and the broader team.  






  • Professional approach to handling confidential financial information and sensitive client matters.  






  • A proactive attitude with a genuine interest in developing a career within insolvency and restructuring.  




Software Proficiency 




  • Productivity Tools – Microsoft Excel (advanced), Microsoft Word, Outlook 






  • Accounting Software – Experience with accounting and financial management systems 






  • Document Management – Microsoft Office 365 and electronic document management platforms 




Education 




  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Law, or a related discipline. 






  • Relevant accounting or insolvency qualifications will be highly regarded but are not essential.
