Overall purpose and responsibilities of the role:

Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Accountant supports full-cycle accounting and reporting. This position continues to improve and develop the Company month-end processes and delivers valuable insights through the month-end reporting package.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Main Job Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage tracking and reporting of all Projects in Acumatica
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations related to Balance Sheet & Income statement accounts.
  • Cross Train the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable positions to provide coverage when needed.
  • Process Accounts Receivable invoices for Strategic Partners
  • Be back up for preparing Journal entries for daily Inventory movements between warehouses.
  • Contribute to the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting package for presentation to the senior leadership team and external stakeholders i.e., RBC, EDC, Renewal
  • Investigate and explain variances against budget and perform variance analysis.
  • Participate in the completion of accurate and timely monthly comparative financial statements with departmental breakdown.
  • Prepare working papers for Annual Review engagement, assist the Controller interfacing with external auditors.
  • Participate and assist with all process improvement projects.
  • Assists with the preparation of the Annual Budget.
  • Involved in special projects/analyses which require extensive use of Excel and the handling of large amounts of data manipulation.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Project reporting.
  • Assist in preparation of monthly financial package.
  • Assist in preparation of Year End Review package.
  • Assist in preparation of Annual Budget.
  • Assist with Process Improvement Projects.
  • Assist with data collection for ESG Reporting.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Post-Secondary Certificate/Diploma/Degree preferably in Accounting or Business Administration
  • CPA designation completed or passed is advantageous.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in related field.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on Excel (intermediate preferred)
  • Proficiency with Acumatica, NetSuite & Dynamics will be an asset.
  • Prior experience with an eCommerce-based company is advantageous.
  • Prior experience with a US or Canadian Accounting is advantageous.
