ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Junior Accountant at 5 ELK, you will support audit and accounting operations for a growing portfolio of UK-based clients. This role is ideal for individuals who are ACCA-qualified, part-qualified, or hold an equivalent accounting certification, with foundational experience in UK audit standards and practices.

You will work closely with UK audit teams to perform substantive testing, prepare accurate and compliant audit documentation, and contribute to the successful delivery of high-quality client service. This position offers hands-on exposure to UK audit methodologies, industry tools, and best practices, making it an excellent opportunity to strengthen your technical skills and grow your career in a collaborative and supportive environment.

Responsibilities

• Execute audit testing procedures under the guidance of UK audit teams.
• Prepare and maintain audit working papers and documentation in compliance with International Standards on Auditing (ISA).
• Perform analytical reviews and variance analyses to assess client financial data.
• Respond to audit data requests, manage client records, and ensure timely and organized documentation.
• Adhere to internal firm procedures, audit timelines, and quality standards.
• Safeguard client confidentiality and maintain professional integrity throughout the audit process.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues and contribute to a team-oriented audit environment.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration and other related fields
• ACCA qualified, part-qualified, or holding an equivalent professional accounting qualification.
• 1–2 years of hands-on experience in UK audit or accounting roles.
• Working knowledge of UK audit methodology and audit working paper software such as CaseWare, MyWorkpapers, or similar tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
• Ability to manage workload effectively and meet deadlines in a structured, deadline-driven environment.

Skills

• Prior experience working with UK clients or within UK-based accounting practice.
• Familiarity with other audit and accounting platforms.
• Knowledge of UK GAAP or IFRS frameworks.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative when required.
