Job Description - Land Acquisition Specialist

The primary task of the Land Acquisition Specialist is to assist the Land Acquisition Manager in the following tasks:

  • Scheduling of task assignments (Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary).
    • Primary tasks – tasks primarily assigned to the team such as acquisition of new lots, any technical activities (mapping and due diligence) and legal coordination and all kinds of communication (internal and external) that are required for the new lots being acquired.
    • Secondary tasks – tasks given by other teams for the ongoing project sites such as mapping activities for permitting and other government-related concerns, giving technical advice and assistance if necessary.
    • Tertiary tasks – tasks given by other teams for the sites being acquired by their team such as but not limited to plotting of titles or producing maps for wind sites.
  • Communication with internal and external stakeholders for the requests, requirements, and outputs.
  • Look for new sets of brokers/agents/land representatives/landowners using any platform.
  • Constant coordination with the new and old brokers/agents/land representatives/landowners for the sites being offered.
  • Develop and maintain close relationships with brokers/agents/land representatives/landowners, and government officials who will aid in the land acquisition.
  • Organize team’s local report file for all sites and filtered sites.
  • Acquisition of property and supporting property documents from the brokers/agents/land representatives/landowners.
  • Check all documents that are being provided by the brokers/agents/land representatives/landowners in terms of technical and legal aspects (initial due diligence).
  • Encode and plot the technical descriptions indicated on the titles, or any available property documents.
  • Quality-check of the technical descriptions indicated on the property documents and generate list of documents for research to be coordinated with the brokers/agents/land representatives/landowners.
  • Generation of maps and KMZ files.
  • Coordination with Grid solutions for their grid remarks.
  • Coordination with other departments/teams for the terrain assessment, engineering design, internal cost analysis, legal due diligence, and contract development, etc.
  • Generate reports and present them to the higher management.
  • Request and acquire supporting documents from any government and external agencies to support the mapping of all sites using different platforms (online or ground).
  • Generate mapping requirements for any concerns not only limited to permitting, for all sites.
  • Quality check of survey output of 3rd party contractors/consultants when necessary.
  • Visit site and perform fieldwork if necessary.
  • Generate site visit report and analysis.
  • Coordination with finance and admin for any budget and admin-related activities.
  • Handle administrative activities of the team.
  • Attend weekly meetings with higher management for different sites when necessary.
  • Constant update of team’s process for the better and faster land acquisition and deliverables of outputs.
  • Sign and seal mapping documents when necessary and if applicable (for licensed Geodetic Engineers).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Your profile
  • Graduate of BS in Geodetic Engineering or any BS degree with GIS background (i.e. Geology, Geography, Forester, etc).
  • With atleast one (1) year work experience in geodetic engineering activities, mapping, GIS-related activities related to renewable energy industry.
  • With GIS background. Familiar with georeferencing and digitizing.
  • Must be adept in using AutoCAD or any CAD software, QGIS and/or ArcGIS, Google Earth Pro, etc.
  • Able to work and interact with internal and external stakeholders. With excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Able to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Can work with minimal assistance.
  • Must be willing to travel and flexible with work hours.
