Position Summary:

The Labor Relations & Data and Contract Management Counsel shall provide support in the documentation and analysis of employee cases and grievances while ensuring compliance with labor requirements, and in providing relevant analysis of cases which can serve as reference for process improvements, and business understanding. He/she shall assist in representing the Company in courts and quasi-judicial agencies and administrative bodies in cases filed for or against it. He/She shall be responsible in ensuring compliance with the laws, rules and regulations by providing effective data management and ensuring that records are properly kept and updated at all times. He/She shall maintain an efficient database for RCG employees and shall assist in rolling out programs and trainings designed to ensure legal and regulatory compliance.

He/She shall also oversee and manage the Labor Relations Associate in managing all liaising activities of the organization, in compliance with all government mandatory requirements in a timely and efficient manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Company’s employee disciplinary process and grievance procedure;
  • Assist in representing, handling and overseeing legal disputes, including alternative dispute resolution and litigation cases initiated by, or filed against, the Company before courts, quasi-judicial bodies or administrative agencies;
  • Provide legal training and guidance to employees and management to ensure compliance with legal policies and procedures;
  • Provide accurate and timely legal research, services and counsel to Management in various fields of law and assist in evaluating risk factors affecting business decisions and operations;
  • Collaborate with other members of the Legal Team in devising legal strategies and planning;
  • Assist in monitoring corporate compliance and corporate reportorial requirements with government entities such as, but not limited to, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), the Department of Migrant Workers, and other government agencies;
  • Keep abreast of Philippine laws and jurisprudence and other laws which may be relevant to the Company;
  • Administer contract management procedures and controls to ensure use of appropriate forms and adherence to established corporate contracts policies;
  • Maintain and manage RCG contracts database;
  • Maintain and manage RCG crewmembers database;
  • Perform other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications:

  • Law degree, preferably from a reputable school, with an active license to practice law in the Philippines
  • At least three (3) years of prior experience in alternative dispute resolution, litigation, labor law practice, corporate law and contracts management
  • Prior experience with a law firm and/or in an in-house legal environment of multinational corporation is a plus

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Technologically proficient with software applications such as SharePoint and the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated high proficiency in English, including correct spelling, grammar, tone, and syntax.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently with a high volume of assignments
  • Sound judgment
  • Demonstrated experience handling sensitive, confidential material
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, commitment to client service, and the ability to build relationships across the Company.
  • Strong knowledge of Philippine corporate governance principles and regulations
  • Updated knowledge of labor law and knowledge of disciplinary measures processes
  • Basic knowledge of the office package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and any legal research tools
