Legal Counsel

Angkas’ mission is to eradicate poverty in the Philippines by providing opportunities for its bikers to create a source of livelihood that impacts their family and their communities.

The Legal Counsel will play a crucial role in setting up the foundations in making this happen.  They will be expected to provide expert legal advice and support to ensure the company’s operations, contracts, and business strategies comply with relevant laws and regulations. The role involves close collaboration with internal stakeholders, regulatory agencies, and external counsel to mitigate legal risks and safeguard the company’s interests. They are also expected to draft, review, and negotiate contracts, monitor regulatory compliance, and advise on corporate governance and commercial transactions. They will play a key role in managing legal issues related to business expansion, partnerships, and other strategic initiatives.

What you’ll be doing:

●        Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts and agreements

●        Provide legal advice on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management

●        Assist in structuring and executing mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic transactions

●        Ensure timely compliance with relevant laws, rules, and regulatory requirements

●        Support internal teams with legal guidance on day-to-day business activities

●        Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on corporate and commercial matters

●        Assist in the development and implementation of internal legal policies and procedures

●        Adhere to company policies and procedures

●        Achieve or exceed targets and key objectives assigned by your Immediate Superior

●        Accept other associated responsibilities and projects as the need arises.

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from a recognized law school
• At least three (3) years of relevant work experience
• Prior experience at an established and reputable law firm; exposure to working with government agencies in highly regulated industries
• Member in good standing of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP)
