Machine Learning Engineer

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Machine Learning Engineer to join our software delivery team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing machine learning models to proactively manage demand and supply in a (near) real time ride hailing and delivery business. You will work closely with data scientists and software engineers to deploy scalable machine learning solutions that drive innovation in logistics.

Responsibilities

1. Model Development:

• Design, build, and deploy machine learning models to solve complex logistics problems.
• Work with large, complex datasets to extract insights and identify patterns.
• Implement algorithms for all kinds of optimizations in the (near) real time logistics industry.
• Work closely with software engineers to deliver highest standards with regards to non-functional requirements. 
• Your models are intended to automate in real time a series of today’s sub-optimal, partially manual processes. 

2. Data Analysis:

• Preprocess and clean data to ensure accuracy and quality for model training.
• Perform exploratory data analysis to understand variables and model dependencies.
• Collaborate with data engineers to design data collection and aggregation strategies.

3. Collaboration:

• Work with cross-functional software delivery teams to integrate machine learning models into existing systems.
• Collaborate with software engineers to enable fast and safe iteration of your models. 
• Communicate the value of complex machine learning concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Provide insights and recommendations based on model outcomes to support decision-making.

4. Continuous Learning:

• Stay abreast of the latest developments in machine learning and logistics.
• Evaluate and adopt new technologies to enhance model performance and efficiency.
• Foster continuous know-how exchange with your team members. 

5. Quality Assurance:

• Monitor and continuously improve model performance.
• Your models shall be one of the key drivers of Angkas being the most reliable ride hailing and logistics operator.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
• Experience: 5+ years of experience in machine learning and/or data science.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in machine learning frameworks.
• Strong programming skills.
• Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Elastic).
• Familiarity with optimization algorithms and predictive modeling.
• MLOps experience is beneficial. 
• Analytical Skills:
• Strong problem-finding and problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to interpret complex data and translate it into understandable and actionable insights.
• Communication Skills:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
• Ability to communicate with non-experts.
