The Merchandising Specialist is mainly in-charge of managing products with responsibilities ranging from buying products from suppliers, placing them in the store, and monitoring inventory. He/she is responsible for hitting sales targets, maintaining allowable inventory level, and ensuring that profitability metrics are met. He/she works under the Merchandising Department, reporting directly to the Merchandising Assistant Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Attends trade shows, conferences, events to review new products and to be aware of
new marketing initiatives.
2. Collaborates with the product development team in conceptualizing and designing
new products
3. Prepares purchase plans for major product lines, usually 4 to 6 months in advance to
ensure stock availability
4. Sets sales targets for assigned categories
5. Prepares Open to Buy (OTB) to monitor sales against target, inventory level and
purchase budget
6. Prepares Order Analysis Form to monitor and analyze inventory levels to identify
over-stock and under-stock situations and adjust purchases accordingly
7. Identifies best merchandise assortment (for categories handled) for each store and
prepares allocation form for new products
8. Develops and modifies planograms of products per store cluster and coordinates with Visual Merchandising on implementation of planograms
9. Monitors sales and inventory of assigned categories
10. Prepares sales and inventory reports and presents to the Retail President on a monthly basis
11. Recommends and implements action plans to achieve sales targets and maintain desired inventory levels
12. Builds relationships with suppliers and closely coordinates with them on new product offerings and possible tie-ups on marketing initiatives and promotional activities
13. Negotiates with suppliers to get best prices and maximize margins
14. Sets business reviews with suppliers to evaluate historical performance, formulate strategy, and align on plans
15. Prepares promotional plan for categories handled
16. Coordinates with Marketing and Visual Merchandising on conceptualization and execution of promotional campaigns
17. Evaluates effectiveness of each promotional campaign
18. Assists the stores and other departments on product-related issues
19. Hands-on involvement in customer service particularly with concerns regarding products
20. Delivers presentations on product knowledge to store personnel and other departments
21. Maintains an organized record of merchandising documents
22. Researches on the latest sporting and lifestyle trends through the internet, magazines, and other sources.
Qualifications
a. Education – Graduate of a 4-year college course preferably related to business
b. Work Experience – 1-3 years of related work experience
c. Training / Technical Skills
1. Must be adept at using Microsoft Office applications especially MS Excel
2. Must have exceptional analytical skills
3. Preferably knows how to play or have knowledge in racquet sports.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: Php25,000.00 - Php28,000.00 per month
