Parts Interpreter

Job Brief  

We are seeking an experienced Parts Interpreter to accurately identify, source, and supply components for off-highway and heavy machinery, supporting leading brands such as Kubota, Komatsu, Kobelco, Caterpillar, and Yanmar. Working on a flexible, part-time schedule, this role plays a vital part in streamlining equipment maintenance and responding to customer inquiries with speed and precision. By combining strong technical knowledge with excellent English proficiency, an understanding of Australian colloquialisms, and an appreciation of the demands on time-poor mechanical tradies, the successful remote professional will help maintain machinery uptime and deliver a high level of customer satisfaction.

  Accurately identify and look up required machinery parts, assemblies, and filters using manufacturer catalogues and technical manuals.

  Global Research & Sourcing

  Research hard-to-find components through international supplier and manufacturer websites to identify reliable parts availability.

  Customer Communication & Engagement 

  
  

• 
  

  Handle customer and workshop inquiries promptly and professionally via phone and email. 

  
  

• 
  

  Communicate naturally with Australian trade clients, using a strong understanding of local colloquialisms and industry terminology to engage effectively with time-poor mechanical tradies.

  Cross-Referencing & Data Analysis 

  
  

• 
  

  Cross-reference parts, equipment models, and serial numbers to ensure compatibility across diverse machinery systems.

  Multi-Brand Sourcing Support

  Coordinate parts sourcing across a wide range of heavy machinery brands and specialised equipment. 

  
  

Requirements 

• 
  

  Proven experience as a Parts Interpreter, Parts Advisor, or Technical Sourcing Specialist within the heavy equipment, construction, agricultural, diesel, or automotive industries. 

  
  

• 
  

  Strong technical knowledge of off-highway machinery and components across major brands such as Caterpillar, Komatsu, and Kubota. 

  
  

• 
  

  Exceptional English proficiency, with an advanced ability to understand Australian colloquialisms, speech patterns, and industry-specific terminology. 

  
  

• 
  

  Demonstrated ability to navigate complex parts catalogues, electronic parts books (EPBs), and international supplier websites. 

  
  

• 
  

  Strong organisational skills and attention to detail to prevent ordering errors and maintain accurate part numbers.

  Ability to work independently and manage workflows efficiently within a structured part-time schedule. 

  
  

Software Proficiency

  Electronic Parts Catalogues (EPC) and Dealer Management Systems (DMS)

  Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Word 

  
  

Education

  Vocational Diploma, Automotive Certificate III in Parts Interpreting, or an equivalent trade qualification in heavy diesel or mechanical machinery.
