The Senior Public Engagement Campaigner facilitates the development and oversees implementation of Greenpeace Philippines’ public engagement strategy. The incumbent manages Public Engagement and Actions staff, ensuring the achievement of public engagement goals and impact objectives, smooth operations and implementation of agreed strategies, and effective collaboration within the organization and the GPPH community of staff, volunteers and supporters, and with external partners and stakeholders.


 


The objective of the PEA Unit is to amplify Greenpeace’s campaigning impact through People Power, Movement Building and Action-led Campaigning, both off- and online. The unit builds and enhances GPSEA’s People Power capacities through strengthening and overseeing the country supporter journey, cultivating volunteer leadership and the volunteer skills pool, and building and maintaining a strong network with communities and allied movements. The unit works in close coordination with the other units in the Program Department, as well as with the Fundraising Department.



This is a permanent position based in  Manila and only Greenpeace Philippines staff are welcome to apply.



Duties and Responsibilities:



  • In collaboration with the Program Team, lead the design and development of locally relevant country level public engagement and actions strategies geared toward strengthening community people power, movement building and action-led campaigning

  • Promote people power, movement building, and action-led campaigning approaches within GPPH and its communities.

  • Supervise PEA staff to effectively implement and monitor agreed public engagement and actions strategies while ensuring alignment to the larger program framework and contribution to agreed impacts

  • Ensure strong collaboration of PEA staff with other program units as well as with other departments, and with volunteers and local groups, toward alignment on people power, movement building and action-led campaigning approaches.

  • Participate in the Regional PEA Community of Practice in order to sustain and improve quality and work processes, to innovate and to stay abreast of new developments.

  • Maintain strong relationships and collaboration with existing partners (groups, communities and CSOs) and seek out new networks for strategic alliance building and outreach.

  • Manage resource deployment for the efficient and timely delivery of PEA objectives.

  • Ensure impactful and responsive delivery of PEA objectives in the context of evolving campaign landscapes, while incorporating new lessons learnt and seeking to amplify and improve team performance.



Skills and Experience:



  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience, preferably involving Management, Communications, Community Development, or Social Sciences

  • At least 5 years of experience working in a CSO, preferably with experience in project management, community/grassroots organizing, network mobilization and volunteer management.

  • Knowledge and/or experience in campaigning, movement building and community organizing.

  • Knowledge and/or experience in the development and coordination of public engagement, inclusive of volunteer management

  • Knowledge and/or experience in developing, implementing and evaluating public engagement strategies, inclusive of risk assessment and management,

  • Knowledge and/or experience in people management.

  • Strong skills in written and spoken English and relevant local language (required) 

  • Desired knowledge and/or experience in Action-Led campaigning

  • Desired knowledge and/or experience in security management and risk mitigation

  • Desired knowledge and/or experience in campaigning organisation in Southeast Asia
