Job Description - Portfolio Analytics Officer

About the role:

The Portfolio Analytics Officer is responsible for monitoring and analyzing the Company's credit portfolio to identify emerging risks, evaluate portfolio performance, and provide data-driven insights that support credit risk management and business decision-making. The role develops portfolio reports, dashboards, and management information, conducts portfolio segmentation and trend analyses, and supports the evaluation of underwriting strategies, new products, and portfolio initiatives.

The incumbent is expected to independently extract, validate, analyze, and present portfolio data using available reporting tools and databases, ensuring timely and accurate management information without requiring routine support from Technology or Data teams.

The role works closely with Risk Management, Credit Operations, Collections, Finance, Business Development, and Technology to support effective portfolio monitoring and credit risk management.

Responsibilities:

Portfolio Monitoring and Analytics

  • Monitor the performance of the Company's lending portfolio using established credit risk indicators and portfolio monitoring metrics.
  • Analyze portfolio trends by product, customer segment, geography, acquisition channel, employer, industry, loan amount, tenor, and other relevant dimensions.
  • Conduct vintage, cohort, roll rate, flow rate, delinquency, and collections analyses to identify emerging risks and performance trends.
  • Monitor portfolio performance against approved risk appetite, risk limits, and management thresholds.
  • Identify portfolio deterioration and recommend timely escalation to Management.
  • Perform portfolio segmentation and trend analyses to identify key drivers of portfolio performance.
  • Evaluate underwriting quality, customer repayment behavior, delinquency patterns, and portfolio migration.
  • Assess the performance of new products, underwriting strategies, and credit programs.
  • Support champion-challenger analyses and strategy performance reviews.
  • Conduct ad hoc analyses to support business and risk management decisions.
  • Prepare accurate and timely portfolio performance reports, dashboards, and management information for Senior Management, Risk Committees, and the Board.
  • Develop and maintain recurring portfolio reports and dashboards using business intelligence tools.
  • Ensure reporting outputs are complete, accurate, and supported by appropriate documentation and reconciliations.

Data Extraction, Validation, and Analysis

  • Independently extract portfolio data from source systems using available reporting tools without requiring routine assistance from Technology or Data teams.
  • Validate, reconcile, and analyze data from multiple sources to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of management reports.
  • Identify and resolve data quality issues through appropriate validation and reconciliation procedures.
  • Maintain documented reporting logic and calculation methodologies for recurring reports.
  • Recommend opportunities to improve reporting efficiency through automation and process enhancements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferably in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, Statistics, or Math gained in a reputable college/university
  • With at least 3 - 5 years relevant work experience in Consumer and/or SME Lending gained in a bank or a financial institution with focus on Credit Policy or Credit Governance.
  • Previous people management or project leadership experience is preferred.
  • Experience in digital lending and/or scorecard-driven underwriting is an advantage.
  • Must have extensive familiarity with consumer lending's full credit life cycle from loan origination to collection and recovery.
  • Must have experience and knowledge of BASEL III/IV and IFRS9 requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of credit underwriting principles and lending practices.
  • Experience drafting and maintaining credit policies and procedural documents.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint/Canva.
  • Strong documentation and policy writing skills.
  • Understanding of credit approval processes and delegated authority frameworks.
  • Basic SQL or reporting skills to support policy impact analysis and familiarity with scorecard-based lending and digital credit assessment is an advantage
