Prior Authorization Specialist

Account Specific Roles and Responsibilities

• Request and process prior authorizations for medical procedures, services, or medications
• Contact insurance companies via phone to verify coverage and secure authorizations
• Accurately document authorization details, including reference numbers and validity dates
• Follow up on pending authorizations to ensure timely approval and avoid service delays
• Communicate authorization status with internal teams or healthcare providers as needed
• Ensure compliance with insurance guidelines and payer-specific requirements
• Maintain detailed and organized records of all authorization activities
• Escalate issues or denials to appropriate team members or supervisors
• Protect patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and data privacy standards

• Above average verbal and written English communication skills
• Prior experience in handling prior authorizations
• Experience in U.S. healthcare processes is preferred
• Familiarity with medical and diagnosis codes
• Strong attention to detail
