Job Role: Accountant / Bookkeeper (Part-time)

Compensation range: $1,200 AUD / Month

Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement

Work Schedule: This role is expected to require roughly 24 hours per week. As a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your schedule, but availability for occasional collaboration during AU business hours is preferred.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced freelance bookkeeper to support our finance team with day-to-day bookkeeping tasks. This role is designed to free up our Finance Manager from routine responsibilities so they can focus on strategic, higher-level accounting functions.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Perform day-to-day bookkeeping activities in accordance with company policies
• Enter and maintain accurate general ledger transactions
• Prepare and complete monthly bank reconciliations
• Support the Finance Manager by providing clean, up-to-date financial records
• Ensure all data entries comply with internal controls and accounting standards
• Identify discrepancies and resolve issues in a timely manner
• Help maintain a streamlined and organized digital bookkeeping system

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Proven bookkeeping experience (ideally 2+ years)
• Proficiency in Oracle NetSuite is mandatory
• Strong understanding of general ledger management and reconciliation procedures
• Experience with Australian bookkeeping standards and practices
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Strong communication skills and a proactive mindset
• High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information responsibly

Work Arrangement & Expectations:

This is a remote role that may be set up as either an independent contractor engagement or via an Employer of Record (EOR), depending on client preferences and legal structure.

To ensure alignment and transparency, successful candidates will be expected to:

• Be available for meetings and collaboration during core [AEST or PHT] business hours
• Disclose any existing ongoing roles or client work
• Reflect this engagement on their LinkedIn profile (clearly marked as “Independent Contractor” if not employed via EOR)
