Who We Are: At Hunt St, we help Australian companies hire top remote talent in the Philippines. For this role, you will be engaged directly by the client as an independent contractor. We are not an outsourcing agency. All of our roles are 100% remote, so you'll be able to work from home.

Who The Client Is:

A dynamic and dedicated bookkeeping and administration service provider based in New South Wales, servicing businesses across Australia. They specialise in tailored financial support for small to medium-sized businesses—offering meticulous Xero-based bookkeeping, payroll and BAS/IAS lodgements, and training services. Their model emphasises transparency, flexibility, and expert support via tiered monthly packages designed to scale with client growth

Role Overview:

This role is critical in ensuring accurate financial record-keeping, compliance with ATO regulations, timely BAS/IAS submissions, and supporting broader financial operations. The ideal candidate will possess a high level of integrity, proficiency in accounting software (such as Xero, MYOB, or QuickBooks), and the ability to work independently and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Bookkeeping & Financial Record Maintenance:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records including journals, ledgers, and reconciliations.
  • Record daily financial transactions and reconcile bank and credit card statements.
  • Manage accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR), including invoice creation and payment processing.
  • Track and categorize business expenses, ensuring compliance with tax regulations.

Compliance & Reporting:

  • Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS), Instalment Activity Statements (IAS), and payroll tax submissions in accordance with ATO requirements.
  • Ensure GST, PAYG, and superannuation obligations are accurately calculated and submitted on time.
  • Assist with EOFY (end-of-financial-year) processes including reconciliations, adjustments, and reporting.

Payroll Processing:

  • Process weekly/fortnightly/monthly payroll including leave entitlements, superannuation, and tax withholdings.
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with Fair Work and SuperStream standards.
  • Manage Single Touch Payroll (STP) submissions.

Financial Analysis & Support:

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports, cash flow forecasts, and budget tracking.
  • Assist in preparing financial statements and supporting documentation for external accountants or auditors.
  • Provide insights to management on financial performance and suggest cost-saving or efficiency improvements.

Software & System Management:

  • Proficient use of accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, or similar platforms.
  • Utilize cloud-based tools and platforms for file management, communication, and reporting.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles within the Australian context.
  • Solid knowledge of Australian taxation laws, BAS/IAS, and payroll regulations.
  • Proficiency in Xero (preferred), MYOB, QuickBooks, or similar software.
  • Strong Excel and data analysis skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.

This is a remote role that will be set up as an independent contractor engagement.

To ensure alignment and transparency, successful candidates will be expected to:

  • Be available for meetings and collaboration during core [AEST or PHT] business hours
  • Disclose any existing ongoing roles or client work
  • Reflect this engagement on their LinkedIn profile (clearly marked as “Independent Contractor”)
