Job Description - Billing Verification Specialist - Work from home
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical individual to join our team as a Billing Verification Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying, analysing, and resolving discrepancies in energy billing by investigating system-generated verification failures.
You will work closely with our in-house verification system, energy retailers, and internal teams to ensure accurate billing, cost recovery, and process optimisation. This role plays a critical part in delivering cost savings and maintaining billing integrity for our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Review and investigate automated billing verification failures flagged by the internal system.
Analyse errors to determine root cause, whether system configuration issues or billing errors by energy retailers.
Resolve system-related issues independently or escalate to technical teams where required.
Raise disputes with retailers for billing errors and follow through until adjustments or credits are issued.
Utilise the in-house ticketing system to track open issues, resolutions, and savings achieved.
Analyse large data sets in Excel when recurring or widespread errors are identified across multiple invoices.
Document findings, resolutions, and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners.
Support the continuous improvement of the bill verification process and system capabilities.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in billing verification, invoice reconciliation, data analysis, or a similar analytical role.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including experience working with large datasets.
Experience in utilities, energy billing, or invoice reconciliation is highly desirable.
Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritise tasks.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Comfortable working with systems and learning new tools and technologies.
