Certified Medical Coder (Primary Care) | Permanent WFH

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Certified Medical Coder with strong expertise in Primary Care and Pro Fee coding. The ideal candidate will accurately assign and sequence diagnostic and procedural codes based on clinical documentation to ensure proper billing, reimbursement, and regulatory compliance. This role involves collaboration with providers, clinical staff, and internal teams to maintain the highest standards of coding accuracy and data integrity.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review clinical documentation to assign and sequence ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes for various patient types (Hospital, Clinic, Ancillary, and Physician Pro Fee).
• Analyze facility and provider records to ensure accurate APC and Evaluation & Management (E/M) coding.
• Abstract clinical data and validate documentation adequacy to support diagnoses, procedures, and discharge dispositions.
• Serve as a resource for providers and client staff regarding compliant coding practices and provider queries.
• Maintain strict HIPAA compliance and uphold patient and provider confidentiality at all times.
• Participate in team meetings, trainings, and continuing education sessions to stay current with coding updates and regulations.
• Ensure consistent coding accuracy at or above the 95% quality threshold while meeting productivity standards.

• Active AHIMA credential (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CCA) or AAPC credential (COC, CCS-P, CPC, or related).

• Minimum of 2 years’ recent hands-on coding experience, preferably in primary care or multi-specialty settings.

• In-depth knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and relevant coding systems (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS).

• Strong computer proficiency, including MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and data entry accuracy.

• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
