Drafting & Design Professional

Job Brief  

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Drafting & Design Professional to support core design, planning, and permit workflows for custom residential and commercial building projects. 

Acting as a crucial technical resource within the client relationship team, this role is responsible for producing accurate working drawings, concept designs, site analysis plans, and regulatory documentation. The successful remote professional will collaborate across project teams, assist with council building permit applications, and ensure all architectural drawings align with Australian building standards and local planning requirements. 

Responsibilities

  Working Drawings & Concept Design 

  
  

• 
  

  Prepare accurate working drawings, concept designs, and internal project proposals to meet client specifications and design standards. 

  
  

• 
  

  Permit Documentation & Council Liaison 

  
  

• 
  

  Compile and submit comprehensive planning permit applications and building permit documentation to support seamless regulatory approvals. 

  
  

• 
  

  Site & Environmental Analysis 

  
  

• 
  

  Conduct detailed site plan analyses, prepare site investigation reports, and evaluate Bushfire Attack Level (BAL) requirements for project sites. 

  
  

• 
  

  Virtual Reality & Marketing Imagery 

  
  

• 
  

  Produce high-quality 3D visualisations and virtual reality renders to assist with client presentations and prospective marketing campaigns. 

  
  

• 
  

  Ecological Sustainable Design Research 

  
  

• 
  

  Research and integrate Ecological Sustainable Design (ESD) principles into residential and commercial concepts to support modern building innovation. 

  
  

• 
  

  Document & File Management 

  
  

• 
  

  Maintain structured file content management, project calendars, and standard operating records to ensure accurate project tracking. 

  
  

• 
  

  Cross-Functional Collaboration 

  
  

• 
  

  Coordinate regularly with internal client relationship managers, production teams, and project leaders to maintain clear communication throughout the build pipeline. 

  
  

• 
  

  Commercial Concept Support 

  
  

• 
  

  Generate ad-hoc technical design reports and custom concepts for prospective commercial building opportunities. 

  
  

Requirements 

• 
  

  Proven work experience as a Drafter, Architectural Draftsperson, or in a similar structural design role. 

  
  

• 
  

  Advanced hands-on proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and 3D modelling tools. 

  
  

• 
  

  Solid familiarity with Australian building codes, planning permit processes, and council approval workflows. 

  
  

• 
  

  Strong mathematical and spatial reasoning skills with exceptional attention to detail. 

  
  

• 
  

  Knowledge or training in Building Information Modelling (BIM) methodologies and Ecological Sustainable Design (ESD) principles. 

  
  

• 
  

  Excellent written and verbal English communication skills to liaise effectively with cross-functional project teams. 

  
  

• 
  

  Proven ability to work autonomously, manage tight drafting schedules, and adapt to changing project priorities. 

  
  

Software Proficiency

  Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD, Revit, or ArchiCAD

  3D modelling and rendering tools, such as SketchUp, 3ds Max, or Enscape

Education

  Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Drafting and Design Technology, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
