Medical Biller/Coder (Retina Specialty) | Permanent WFH

We’re seeking an experienced Medical Biller/Coder with strong expertise in Retina specialty billing and hands-on experience with Athena software. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, knowledgeable about coding procedures and modifiers, and skilled in handling insurance denials to ensure accurate reimbursement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Accurately assign and review medical codes for retina specialty services.
• Utilize Athena software for billing, coding, and claims management.
• Apply correct modifiers and ensure proper procedure coding based on documentation.
• Manage claim submissions, follow-ups, and resolve denials or rejections efficiently.
• Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure accurate coding and compliance.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines, payer requirements, and compliance standards.
• Assist with audits and reporting as needed.

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in medical billing and coding.
• Retina specialty billing/coding experience.
• Proficiency in Athena software.
• Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes, including modifier usage.
• Proven experience in denial management and resolution.
• Clinical background/experience is a plus.
• Certification (CPC, CCA, CCS, or equivalent)
• Amenable to work during U.S. business working hours.
