Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 9 AM - 5:30 PM (AU Time Zone)

A specialist travel provider designing tailor-made journeys and expedition experiences to some of the world’s most remarkable destinations, including Antarctica, Africa, Latin America, and the Arctic. With a focus on small-group adventures, expedition cruises, and unique events such as solar eclipse tours, they combine expert destination knowledge with personalized service. Their goal is to deliver seamless, unforgettable travel experiences while promoting responsible tourism and ensuring every itinerary is safe, authentic, and enriching.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a talented Mid-Level Software Developer to join our development team. This role involves working on our cloud-based travel management platform while also supporting our WordPress website and Office 365 projects. The ideal candidate will have strong full-stack development skills and experience with modern web technologies.

Responsibilities:

Primary Development (70%) 

• Backend Development: Develop and maintain Ruby on Rails applications with PostgreSQL databases 

• Frontend Development: Build responsive user interfaces using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery 

• API Integration: Work with RESTful APIs and third-party integrations (payment gateways, accounting systems, travel suppliers) 

• Database Management: Design and optimize PostgreSQL database schemas and queries 

• Background Processing: Implement and maintain background job processing systems 

• Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable code following best practices and participate in code reviews 

WordPress Development (20%) 

• Website Maintenance: Update and maintain WordPress websites with custom themes and plugins 

• Content Management: Support content updates and website functionality improvements 

• Plugin Development: Create custom WordPress plugins and modify existing ones as needed 

• Performance Optimization: Optimize website performance and ensure responsive design 

Office 365 Projects (10%) 

• Power Platform: Work with Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power BI for business process automation 

• SharePoint: Develop and customize SharePoint solutions and workflows 

• Integration: Connect Office 365 services with existing business applications 

Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation for Office 365 implementations

Required Skills & Experience:

Technical Requirements 

• 3-5 years of professional software development experience 

• Ruby on Rails proficiency (2+ years experience) 

• PostgreSQL database experience 

• Frontend Technologies: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery 

• Version Control: Git and GitHub/GitLab 

• API Development: RESTful API design and integration 

• WordPress: Theme and plugin development experience 

• Office 365: Power Platform, SharePoint, and Microsoft 365 applications 

Preferred Qualifications 

• SaaS Experience: Multi-tenant application development 

• Cloud Platforms: Heroku, AWS, or similar cloud deployment experience 

• Payment Integration: Experience with payment gateways (Stripe, PayPal, etc.) 

• Background Jobs: Experience with job processing systems (Sidekiq, DelayedJob, etc.) 

• Testing: RSpec, Minitest, or similar testing frameworks 

• DevOps: Basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes
