Senior Coder/Editor (Level 1 Trauma) | Permanent WFH

We are looking for an experienced Senior Coder/Editor with advanced expertise in coding for Level 1 Trauma cases. This role requires a highly skilled professional who can accurately assign and validate complex codes, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and serve as a mentor/resource for other coding staff. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in trauma-related coding, excellent knowledge of industry guidelines, and hands-on experience with Cernerand 3M coding software.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform advanced coding and editing of complex inpatient records, with a focus on Level 1 Trauma cases.

• Assign and validate ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT codes in compliance with official guidelines and payer requirements.
• Use Cerner and 3M software to review documentation, code assignments, and DRG validation.
• Ensure coding accuracy and compliance with HIPAA, CMS, and other regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with providers, auditors, and coding teams to resolve discrepancies.
• Act as a mentor to junior coders by providing training, feedback, and support.
• Monitor coding quality, identify areas for improvement, and recommend process enhancements.

• 5+ years of progressive inpatient coding experience, preferably in trauma or acute care settings.
• Proven expertise in Level 1 Trauma coding.
• Strong proficiency in Cerner and 3M software.
• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS, CIC, or equivalent) required.
• Deep understanding of coding guidelines, DRG assignment, and clinical documentation requirements.
• Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
• Strong communication and mentoring skills.
• Amenable to work during U.S. business working hours.
