Job Role: Senior Quantity Surveyor/Estimator

Compensation range: $1,500 AUD - $2,000 AUD / Monthly

Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement

Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.

Role Overview: The Senior Quantity Surveyor/Estimator is responsible for leading tendering and commercial coordination for industrial, commercial, and select civil construction projects. This role focuses on builder-side estimating, cost management, and strategic support, ensuring tenders are competitive, compliant, and aligned with project objectives. The position requires a strong understanding of construction costs, procurement processes, and tender documentation, supporting high-quality project delivery across complex builds.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Identify potential tender opportunities across industrial, commercial, and selected civil sectors.
  • Prepare and issue Expressions of Interest (EOIs) to engage relevant stakeholders.
  • Manage Requests for Quotation (RFQs) with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain accurate pricing.
  • Coordinate and submit compliant and competitive tenders within deadlines.
  • Review and ensure accuracy of tender documentation, drawings, and contract requirements.
  • Track project costs using spreadsheets and/or relevant estimating software.
  • Update WHS documentation using templates and ensure compliance with requirements.
  • Develop costing formulas and refine pricing systems to improve estimating efficiency.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to provide strategic input on tendering and project delivery.
  • Maintain accurate records of tenders, submissions, and associated documentation.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of proven experience in quantity surveying, construction estimating, or tendering roles.
  • Strong knowledge of construction costs, estimating methodologies, and commercial coordination.
  • Experience preparing and submitting competitive tenders.
  • Proficient in spreadsheet-based estimating; familiarity with takeoff or construction software is an advantage.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet strict deadlines.
  • Has attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in documentation.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills to work with internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Understanding of WHS requirements and the ability to update documentation as required.

Work Arrangement & Expectations:

This is a remote role that will be set up as an independent contractor engagement.
