Job Description - Senior Staff Accountant

The client is a steadily growing, modern accounting firm supporting small to mid-sized businesses across the U.S. Their clients include landscapers, roofers, web designers, doctors, and other busy small business owners they value deeply. They offer a monthly subscription model covering bookkeeping, business tax, and personal tax services, allowing them to support clients year-round. They are proud to be ranked in the top 10% of accounting firms nationwide on Clutch.

They are currently seeking an experienced Senior Staff Accountant to lead new client onboarding.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead Zoom calls with small business owners to understand their business and accounting
  • Take new messy clients and clean up their bookkeeping, streamline processes, connect bank feeds, update chart of accounts, then hand it off to a teammate for regular monthly bookkeeping
  • Clean up existing Quickbooks Online files, as well as open new Quickbooks online files
  • Your daily tasks will be cleanly organized in Canopy, our practice management system, a critical tool that will set you up for success managing work across multiple clients
  • As you work, you’ll always stop to ask questions of your team when you aren’t exactly sure what needs to be done - whether inside a client’s books or another client system
  • Understand and connect CRMs such as Jobber, Hubspot, ServiceTitan and Square that integrate with Quickbooks online
  • Make sure the prior year tax return matches the bookkeeping
  • 5+ years experience in accounting and bookkeeping
  • 2+ years experience in Quickbooks Online
  • Tech savvy - able to navigate Zoom, Slack, etc and learn new software quickly
  • Ability to manage deadlines across multiple clients with an awareness of what needs to be prioritized
  • Exceptional organization skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills with both clients and team members across digital channels and an innate desire to build relationships
  • Humility and openness to coaching and critiques; always seeking to improve
  • Persistence and an ability to stay on track
  • Bookkeeping skills, general knowledge of payroll and accounting principles
  • Accounting degree
  • Flexible schedule (40 hours per week (typically 8:30-4:30 ET but schedule is flexible)
  • 10 days PTO and all US federal holidays off
  • Continuing education and computer covered
  • Laptop and dual monitor paid for
  • Client Relationship : You will be directly working with the client. This means that you will communicate with the client, provide services, and address any client-related matters independently.
  • Payments : All payments for your services will be handled by the client. Elevate and Delegate is not involved in processing your payroll. Your salary will directly go to you. 
  • Vacation Leaves and Holidays : While we may have recommendations or guidelines regarding vacation leaves and holidays, the decision is entirely at the discretion of the client. You are expected to align your schedule with the client’s business needs and any specific policies or preferences they may have in this regard.
