Job Description - Remote US Senior Accountant - #34568
Founded in 2020, this Toronto-based business consulting firm provides outsourced accounting, CFO services, and capital financing support to startups and growing companies. The client partners with a finance team that bridges the gap between basic bookkeeping and a full in-house finance department—offering day-to-day financial management, strategic planning, and fundraising support across Series A to Series C stages. This enables the client to focus on scaling their business while improving financial performance and managing risks effectively.
Overall purpose and responsibilities of the role:

The successful candidate will oversee and review the work of junior bookkeepers, ensure clean and complete month-end packages, and help uphold the quality and consistency of our deliverables. This role will also take ownership of tracking and managing month-end close timelines across multiple client portfolios, ensuring all deadlines are met and proactively escalating any risks to delivery.
Must-have Skills / Qualification:
3–5+ years of full-cycle accounting experience, ideally across multiple clients.
Hands-on proficiency in QuickBooks Online (required) and/or Xero.
Working knowledge of US GAAP (preferred) or Canadian ASPE.
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage accountability across teams.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Excellent attention to detail and technical accuracy.
Clear and professional communication skills in English (written and spoken).
Comfortable working across time zones and in fully remote teams.
No degree or CPA required, but technical competence and a proactive work ethic are essential.
Advantageous:
Experience in a multi-client, outsourced accounting or BPO environment
Prior experience working with North American clients
Familiarity with common SaaS tools (e.g., Google Workspace, Slack, Notion, Karbon, etc.)
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead the preparation and finalization of month-end close packages, ensuring reconciliations, accruals, classifications, and cut-offs are accurate and complete for audit readiness.
Take ownership of the monthly close calendar, proactively managing timelines and tracking deliverables across ~20–30 client portfolios.
Monitor deadlines and drive accountability across the bookkeeping team, ensuring timely, high-quality submissions.
Communicate effectively with internal teams in the Philippines, China, and Canada, and directly with clients via Slack to resolve issues and streamline workflows.
Coach and guide junior bookkeepers to strengthen their technical accuracy, consistency, and ownership.
Maintain clean, well-structured financial documentation and file systems, following established naming conventions and supporting audit and internal clarity.
Lead and contribute to process improvements and training initiatives, including adoption of new accounting and workflow tools.
Occasionally assist with ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as needed.
