We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accounts Officer to manage complex accounting activities, ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting, maintain compliance with internal controls and accounting standards, and support continuous process improvement initiatives. The role serves as a subject matter expert within the accounting team, providing guidance to junior team members and supporting leadership in achieving operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Accounting:
Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
Ensure timely and accurate completion of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
Prepare financial reports and investigate significant variances and exceptions.
Maintain accurate accounting records in compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
Controls & Compliance:
Ensure accounting transactions are properly supported and comply with internal control requirements.
Review accounts and resolve reconciling items on a timely basis.
Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, reports, and documentation.
Assist in ensuring compliance with statutory, tax, and reporting obligations.
Operational Support:
Coordinate with internal stakeholders to resolve accounting issues and outstanding items.
Monitor assigned deliverables and ensure completion within agreed timelines and quality standards.
Escalate risks, discrepancies, and process issues when necessary.
Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, internal controls, and operational efficiencies.
Maintain and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and process documentation.
Share knowledge and provide technical guidance on accounting best practices.
Team Support & Leadership:
Provide functional supervision and technical review of Accounts Officers' work.
Support training, coaching, and development of junior team members.
Promote adherence to team standards, deadlines, and quality expectations.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Accounting Technology, Management Accounting, or a related field.
CPA qualification is preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience with strong exposure to:
General Accounting, Financial Reporting, Month-End Closing, Account Reconciliations
Experience in audit support, taxation, and full-set accounting is highly desirable.
Experience in a Shared Services or BPO accounting environment is an advantage.
Prior supervisory or team leadership experience is preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of financial accounting and reporting standards.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office proficiency.
Experience with ERP systems and Power BI is an advantage.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.
