As part of their continued growth, they’re looking to welcome a Senior Payroll Officer to their Finance team. This role offers the opportunity to lead multi-country payroll operations, contribute to process improvements, and thrive in a flexible, supportive environment.

What You’ll Be Doing
Reporting directly to an Australia-based Finance Director , you will be the cornerstone of the payroll function for entities across Australia and the USA. As part of the Finance team, you will ensure high-accuracy processing while driving process improvements. Your responsibilities include:
- Processing payroll: Monthly for Australia and fortnightly for California, USA
- Ensuring compliance: STP submissions, year-end reconciliations, and payroll tax obligations
- Supporting employees: Responding to payroll queries with care and accuracy
- Managing contributions: Superannuation, WorkCover, and WGEA reporting
- Maintaining data integrity: Keeping payroll records current and error-free
- Recognising performance: Handling commissions, bonuses, and reimbursements
- Partnering cross-functionally: Collaborating with People & Culture on headcount and reporting
- Driving improvement: Identifying opportunities to streamline and automate payroll processes
What You’ll Bring
- Minimum 3–5 years of end-to-end payroll experience, with mandatory exposure to Australian payroll and preferred experience with California, USA payroll
- Strong understanding of STP, superannuation, payroll tax, and Fair Work compliance
- Proficiency in payroll systems (e.g., Xero, KeyPay, Employment Hero), HRIS platforms, and Microsoft Excel
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in calculations
- Strong communication skills and the ability to resolve payroll issues independently
- Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines and work autonomously
Bonus Points For
- Experience leading or contributing to payroll automation or process improvement initiatives
- Familiarity with ProSpend or similar expense management systems
- Exposure to Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) reporting
