The Senior System Administrator and AWS Administrator is a dual-role position that involves managing and maintaining an organization’s on-premises systems and cloud infrastructure, with a primary focus on Amazon Web Services (AWS). This role requires deep expertise in server and network administration, AWS services, and infrastructure automation to ensure the seamless performance, security, and scalability of IT systems.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in system administration, with at least 3 years focused on AWS.

Technical Skills

System Administration:

• Proficiency in Windows Server and Linux (Red Hat, Ubuntu, CentOS).
• Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
• Expertise in storage solutions (SAN, NAS) and backup technologies.

AWS Administration:

• Hands-on experience with core AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC).
• Familiarity with AWS CLI, SDKs, and APIs.
• Experience with cloud security and IAM policies.
• Proficiency in cost management and optimization techniques.

Automation and Scripting:

• Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
• Experience with infrastructure as code (IAC) tools like CloudFormation or Terraform.

Networking:

• Strong understanding of networking principles, including VPNs, firewalls, load balancing, and DNS.

Certifications (Preferred)

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate/Professional).
• AWS Certified SysOps Administrator.
• Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or Microsoft Certified

Soft Skills

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.

Work Conditions

Scope & Responsibilities:

1. System Administration (On-Premises)

Administer and maintain on-premises servers, including Windows and Linux systems.

Manage Active Directory, Group Policies, DNS, DHCP, and other essential IT services.

Oversee hardware, including servers, storage, and network devices, ensuring optimal performance and uptime.

Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and resolve incidents promptly.

Manage software updates, patches, and upgrades to maintain system security and stability.

Plan and execute disaster recovery strategies, including backup and restore operations.

2. AWS Administration

Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS using best practices.

Manage and optimize AWS resources, including EC2, S3, RDS, VPCs, IAM, Lambda, and CloudFront.

Automate infrastructure provisioning and management using tools such as AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, or AWS CDK.

Monitor AWS resource utilization, performance, and costs using CloudWatch and Cost Explorer.

Implement robust security measures, including identity and access management, encryption, and security groups.

Conduct regular backups and disaster recovery tests for cloud resources.

3. Infrastructure Automation and DevOps

Implement automation scripts for routine administrative tasks using Python, PowerShell, or Bash.

Work with DevOps tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD) to streamline deployment pipelines.

Collaborate with development teams to containerize applications using Docker and manage Kubernetes clusters on AWS (EKS).

Integrate monitoring and logging solutions such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, or AWS CloudWatch.

4. Security and Compliance

Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, PCI DSS, ISO 27001).

Perform regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and system hardening.

Manage firewall rules, VPN configurations, and network security policies for both on-premises and cloud environments.

Investigate and respond to security incidents and breaches.

5. Documentation and Reporting

Maintain comprehensive documentation for all systems, configurations, and processes.

Create detailed runbooks, SOPs, and architectural diagrams.

Generate periodic reports on system performance, availability, and cost efficiency.

6. Team Collaboration and Leadership

Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior administrators and IT staff.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support infrastructure needs for applications and services.

Participate in capacity planning and infrastructure design discussions.

Serve as an escalation point for complex system and AWS-related issues.
