Settlements Officer Australian Consumer Lender
Position Overview
The Settlements Officer is responsible for managing the end-to-end loan settlement process to ensure all funding transactions are completed accurately, efficiently, and in full compliance with regulatory and internal policy requirements. The role requires careful review of approved loans, verification of documentation, execution of settlement transactions, and completion of post-settlement administrative tasks. The Settlements Officer plays a critical role in protecting the organisation from financial loss, operational error, and fraud risk.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Review approved loan applications to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with credit approvals and supporting documentation.
Perform identity verification and compliance checks in accordance with responsible lending and AML/CTF requirements, escalating any discrepancies or potential fraud indicators.
Conduct pre-settlement customer confirmation calls to verify key loan details and direct debit arrangements.
Execute settlement workflows, including processing funding disbursements, generating payment files, issuing settlement confirmations, and registering security interests (PPSR).
Complete post-settlement administration, including updating system records, managing commission workflows, maintaining insurance and tracking records, and supporting operational KPI reporting.
Skills and Experience Required
Demonstrated experience in loan settlements, credit administration, or lending operations within financial services, consumer lending, or asset finance environments.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in reviewing financial documentation and settlement data.
An understanding of responsible lending obligations, AML/CTF compliance requirements, and identity verification processes, with the ability to identify discrepancies or potential fraud indicators.
Proficiency in loan management systems (preferably finPOWER or similar platforms) and the ability to manage settlement workflows efficiently.
Strong organisation and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple settlements and meet tight deadlines.
Clear verbal communication skills, particularly when confirming loan details with customers and liaising with internal stakeholders.
High level of accountability, professionalism, and process discipline in a compliance-driven environment.
