ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Statutory Accountant at 5 ELK, you will play a key role in supporting our UK-based clients by preparing statutory accounts and tax filings in full compliance with UK accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with UK statutory reporting, including preparing financial statements, ensuring compliance with Companies House and HMRC regulations and coordinating directly with UK accounting firms. You will also contribute to the continuous improvement of internal quality control processes and provide technical support to both clients & internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Prepare statutory accounts for UK limited companies, LLPs, sole traders, and rental income clients under FRS 102, FRS 102(A), and FRS 105.
• Prepare and file corporation tax computations and CT600 returns with HMRC.
• Coordinate with UK accountancy firms to gather year-end data and resolve accounting and tax-related queries.
• Conduct technical reviews of financial statements and investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies.
• Ensure full compliance with Companies House and HMRC statutory requirements and deadlines.
• Review and make necessary adjustments to bookkeeping records to ensure accuracy before finalisation.
• Provide guidance and support to junior team members, contributing to internal quality control and continuous improvement

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration and other related fields
• ACCA qualified / part-qualified, or equivalent UK accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, CA).
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience working directly with UK accounting firms or clients in statutory accounting role.
• Strong working knowledge of UK accounting standards: FRS 102, FRS 102 Section 1A, and FRS 105.
• Experience preparing CT600 corporation tax returns and handling submissions.
• Proficiency in UK accounting and tax software, including IRIS, CCH, TaxCalc, Capium, Xero, Digita and Bright Manager
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to clearly communicate with clients and team members.
• Strong attention to detail, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
