Training Coordinator

JOB DESCRIPTION:

1) Purpose of the Position:

The purpose of the position is to provide support to the Training Manager for all the seafarer’s training requirements and to assist with the effective implementation of all trainings as required by the principals.

2) Position Summary:        

The Training Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Training Manager in ensuring that all seafarer complies with their training prior boarding their assigned vessel in accordance with all national, statutory requirement and the principal’s training MATRIX.

In the absence of the Training Coordinator, the Assistant Training Coordinator will assume all his assigned tasks. 

3) Qualifications:

1. Must be a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Maritime Studies or any bachelor’s degree course.


2. Must have an extensive experience in crew manning, training or Shipmanagement for a minimum of 2 years holding a similar position or its equivalent if of technical background.


3. Must have an extensive experience in crew manning, training or Shipmanagement for a minimum of 3 years holding a similar position or its equivalent if of non-technical background.

4) Core Job Functions:

1. The Training Coordinator is responsible for checking and identifying the seafarer’s lacking trainings.


2. He is responsible for arranging the seafarer’s training schedule in coordination with the training providers and the company’s technical facilitators.


3. He is responsible for following up with the seafarers to ensure that their training schedules are followed.


4. He is responsible for monitoring that all training certificates are issued in a timely manner.


5. The Training Coordinator is responsible for keeping records for each completed training and prepares the training certificates for PDOS, Anti-Piracy, and principal specific training requirement.


6. The Training Coordinator is responsible in the preparation and submission of training reports as required by the local authorities such as Anti- Piracy Attendance Report and PDOS.


7. He is responsible for encoding and maintaining a complete and accurate records on the training database.


8. He is responsible in the preparation of training allowances, training reimbursements technical facilitator fees by completing the company’s request for payment form.

5) Core Competencies: 

1. Must possess a good organizational and communication skills.


2. Must be independent and resourceful and be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.


3. Must be familiar with ISM/ISPS/MLC, MARPOL, SOLAS & STCW regulations.


4. Must possess a good level of English language understanding both oral and written skills.


5. Must be knowledgeable on computer operating systems, office software and applications.
